A Nonoverlapping Domain Decomposition Method for Incompressible Stokes Equations with Continuous Pressures

A non-overlapping domain decomposition algorithm is proposed to solve the linear system arising from mixed finite element approximation of incompressible Stokes equations. A continuous finite element space for the pressure is used. In the proposed algorithm, Lagrange multipliers are used to enforce continuity of the velocity component across the subdomain boundary. The continuity of the pressur...

Iso-P2 P1/P1/P1 Domain-Decomposition/Finite-Element Method for the Navier-Stokes Equations

In recent years, parallel computers have changed techniques to solve problems in various kinds of fields. In parallel computers of distributed memory type, data can be shared by communication procedures called message-passing, whose speed is slower than that of computations in a processor. From a practical point of view, it is important to reduce the amount of message-passing. Domain-decomposit...

Analysis and Finite-Element Approximation of Optimal-Control Problems for the Stationary Navier-Stokes Equations with Distributed and Neumann Controls

We examine certain analytic and numerical aspects of optimal control problems for the stationary Navier-Stokes equations. The controls considered may be of either the distributed or Neumann type; the functional minimized are either the viscous dissipation or the L -distance of candidate flows to some desired flow. We show the existence of optimal solutions and justify the use of Lagrange multip...

Non-matching Mortar Discretization Analysis for the Coupling Stokes-darcy Equations

Abstract. We consider the coupling across an interface of fluid and porous media flows with Beavers-JosephSaffman transmission conditions. Under an adequate choice of Lagrange multipliers on the interface we analyze inf-sup conditions and optimal a priori error estimates associated with the continuous and discrete formulations of this Stokes-Darcy system. We allow the meshes of the two regions ...

An Enhanced Finite Element method for Two Dimensional Linear Viscoelasticity using Complex Fourier Elements

In this paper, the finite element analysis of two-dimensional linear viscoelastic problems is performed using quadrilateral complex Fourier elements and, the results are compared with those obtained by quadrilateral classic Lagrange elements. Complex Fourier shape functions contain a shape parameter which is a constant unknown parameter adopted to enhance approximation’s accuracy. Since the iso...
