چکیده

In 1994 B erenger showed how to construct a perfectly matched absorbing layer for the Maxwell system in rectilinear coordinates. This layer absorbs waves of any wavelength and any frequency without reeection and thus can be used to artiicially terminate the domain of scattering calculations. In this paper we show how to derive and implement the B erenger layer in curvilinear coordinates (in two space dimensions). We prove that an innnite layer of this type can be used to solve time harmonic scattering problems. We also show that the truncated B erenger problem has a solution except at a discrete set of exceptional frequencies (which might be empty). Finally numerical results show that the curvilinear layer can produce accurate solutions in the time and frequency domain. Modal expansion for the 2D Green’s function in a non-orthogonal coordinates system

We present an efficient modal method to calculate the two-dimensional Green’s function for electromagnetics in curvilinear coordinates. For this purpose the coordinate transformation based differential method, introduced for the numerical analysis of surface-relief gratings, is directly used with perfectly matched layers (PMLs). The covariant formalism Maxwell’s equations, very convenient for t...

Complex space approach to perfectly matched layers: a review and some new developments

We discuss the interpretation of the perfectly matched layer (PML) absorbing boundary condition (ABC) as an analytic continuation of the coordinate space to a complex variables spatial domain (complex space). The generalization of the PML to curvilinear coordinates and to general linear media using this rationale is reviewed and summarized. The analytic continuation is shown to be equivalent to...

Perfectly matched layers for convex truncated domains with discontinuous Galerkin time domain simulations

This paper deals with the design of perfectly matched layers (PMLs) for transient acoustic wave propagation in generally-shaped convex truncated domains. After reviewing key elements to derive PML equations for such domains, we present two time-dependent formulations for the pressure-velocity system. These formulations are obtained by using a complex coordinate stretching of the time-harmonic v...

Analytical Derivation of a Conformal

We present an analytical derivation of a 3D conformal perfectly matched layer (PML's) for mesh termination in general orthogonal curvilinear coordinates. The derivation is based on the analytic continuation to complex space of the normal coordinate to the mesh termination. The resultant elds in the complex space do not obey the Maxwell's equations. However, it is demonstrated that through simpl...

A Study of Electromagnetic Radiation from Monopole Antennas on Spherical-Lossy Earth Using the Finite-Difference Time-Domain Method

Radiation from monopole antennas on spherical-lossy earth is analyzed by the finitedifference time-domain (FDTD) method in spherical coordinates. A novel generalized perfectly matched layer (PML) has been developed for the truncation of the lossy soil. For having an accurate modeling with less memory requirements, an efficient "non-uniform" mesh generation scheme is used. Also in each time step...
