An Evaluation of METAL: the LRC Machine Translation System
The Linguistics Research Center (LRC) at the University of Texas at Austin is currently developing METAL, a fully-automatlc high quality machine translation system, for market introduction in 1985. This paper will describe the current stat~s of METAL, e~phasizing the results of the most recent post-edltors' evaluation, and will briefly indicate some future directions for the system. A 6-page Ge...
متن کاملThe LRC Machine Translation System
Austin is currently developing METAL, a fully-automatic high quality Machine Translation (MT) system. After outlining the history and status of the project, this paper discusses the system's projected application environment and briefly describes our general translation approach. After detailing the salient linguistic and computational techniques on which METAL is based, we consider some of the...
متن کاملThe LRC Machine Translation System: An Overview Of The Linguistic Component Of Metal
Although there has been work on machine translation since the early 1950"s, it is only in the last few years that ~ systems have become capable of p~'oductng output and-where near the quality needed for widespread use. The LinguAe-tics Research Center (LRC) at the University of Texan at Aus-tin has developed a working machine translation system. METAL, the actual translation system, produces qu...
متن کاملA Hybrid Machine Translation System Based on a Monotone Decoder
In this paper, a hybrid Machine Translation (MT) system is proposed by combining the result of a rule-based machine translation (RBMT) system with a statistical approach. The RBMT uses a set of linguistic rules for translation, which leads to better translation results in terms of word ordering and syntactic structure. On the other hand, SMT works better in lexical choice. Therefore, in our sys...
متن کاملOn the Translation Quality of Google Translate: With a Concentration on Adjectives
Translation, whose first traces date back at least to 3000 BC (Newmark, 1988), has always been considered time-consuming and labor-consuming. In view of this, experts have made numerous efforts to develop some mechanical systems which can reduce part of this time and labor. The advancement of computers in the second half of the twentieth century paved the ground for the invention of machine tra...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of English-Persian Translation of Neural Google Translation
Many studies abroad have focused on neural machine translation and almost all concluded that this method was much closer to humanistic translation than machine translation. Therefore, this paper aimed at investigating whether neural machine translation was more acceptable in English-Persian translation in comparison with machine translation. Hence, two types of text were chosen to be translated...
