On Composite Quantum Hypothesis Testing

چکیده
σ ⊗n is given by a regularized quantum relative entropy distance formula. We prove that in general such a regularization is needed but also discuss various settings where our formula as well as extensions thereof become single-letter. This includes a novel operational interpretation of the relative entropy of coherence in terms of hypothesis testing. For our proof, we start from the composite Stein’s lemma for classical probability distributions and lift the result to the non-commutative setting by only using elementary properties of quantum entropy. Finally, our findings also imply an improved Markov type lower bound on the quantum conditional mutual information in terms of the regularized quantum relative entropy – featuring an explicit and universal recovery map.

Correlation detection and an operational interpretation of the Rényi mutual information
Recently, a variety of new measures of quantum Rényi mutual information and quantum Rényi conditional entropy have been proposed, and some of their mathematical properties explored. Here, we show that the Rényi mutual information attains operational meaning in the context of composite hypothesis testing, when the null hypothesis is a fixed bipartite state and the alternate hypothesis consists o...
متن کاملConvexity Properties of the Quantum Rényi Divergences, with Applications to the Quantum Stein's Lemma
We show finite-size bounds on the deviation of the optimal type II error from its asymptotic value in the quantum hypothesis testing problem of Stein’s lemma with composite null-hypothesis. The proof is based on some simple properties of a new notion of quantum Rényi divergence, recently introduced in [Müller-Lennert, Dupuis, Szehr, Fehr and Tomamichel, J. Math. Phys. 54, 122203, (2013)], and [...
متن کاملA hypothesis testing approach for communication over entanglement assisted compound quantum channel
We study the problem of communication over a compound quantum channel in the presence of entanglement. Classically such channels are modeled as a collection of conditional probability distributions wherein neither the sender nor the receiver is aware of the channel being used for transmission, except for the fact that it belongs to this collection. We provide near optimal achievability and conv...
متن کاملHYPOTHESIS TESTING FOR AN EXCHANGEABLE NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
Consider an exchangeable normal vector with parameters ????2, and ?. On the basis of a vector observation some tests about these parameters are found and their properties are discussed. A simulation study for these tests and a few nonparametric tests are presented. Some advantages and disadvantages of these tests are discussed and a few applications are given.
متن کاملExact hypothesis testing and confidence interval for mean of the exponential distribution under Type-I progressive hybrid censoring
Censored samples are discussed in experiments of life-testing; i.e. whenever the experimenter does not observe the failure times of all units placed on a life test. In recent years, inference based on censored sampling is considered, so that about the parameters of various distributions such as normal, exponential, gamma, Rayleigh, Weibull, log normal, inverse Gaussian, ...
