چکیده

https://rde.ac Logistic regression is a regression model where the dependent variable is categorical and corresponding independent variables can be categorical or continuous. This article covers the case of a binary dependent variable such as an event occurring coded 1 = ‘event’ and 0 = ‘no event’. Frequent outcomes are pass/fail, win/lose, disease/no disease, etc. The logistic regression model estimates the probability that an event occurs versus the probability that the event does not occur.

A NEW APPROACH FOR PARAMETER ESTIMATION IN FUZZY LOGISTIC REGRESSION

Logistic regression analysis is used to model categorical dependent variable. It is usually used in social sciences and clinical research. Human thoughts and disease diagnosis in clinical research contain vagueness. This situation leads researchers to combine fuzzy set and statistical theories. Fuzzy logistic regression analysis is one of the outcomes of this combination and it is used in situa...

A Primer for Social Worker Researchers on How to Conduct a Multinomial Logistic Regression

The purpose of this article is to explain how to conduct a multinomial logistic regression (MLR) to increase its usage among social work researchers. A challenge for social work researchers carrying out practice-based research is to incorporate statistical analyses that are comprehensible to clinicians. Another challenge is that categorical variables, as opposed to continuous, commonly occur in...

Using logistic regression in perinatal epidemiology: an introduction for clinical researchers. Part 1: Basic concepts.

Logistic regression is a statistical modelling technique which may be applied to estimate the simultaneous effect of a set of predictors (e.g. gestational age, birthweight) on the risk of a certain outcome variable (e.g. neonatal death) which can take either one of two possible values (yes/no, alive/dead) or in the situation where one wants to estimate the effect of a particular risk factor (e....

Using logistic regression in perinatal epidemiology: an introduction for clinical researchers. Part 2: The logistic regression equation.

In Part 1 basic concepts were introduced as a preparation for an introductory explanation of logistic regression. Logistic regression is a statistical modelling technique, designed for the estimation of the simultaneous effects of predictors on the risk of a certain dichotomous outcome variable where each effect is estimated while adjusting for the effect of the other factors considered. The ba...

Using statistical text mining to supplement the development of an ontology

Statistical text mining was used to supplement efforts to develop a clinical vocabulary for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the VA. A set of outpatient progress notes was collected for a cohort of 405 unique veterans with PTSD and a comparison group of 392 with other psychological conditions at one VA hospital. Two methods were employed: (1) "multi-model term scoring" used stepwise log...
