چکیده

The multigrid method is used for coupled fluid-solid scattering discretized by linear finite elements. Numerical results show that using Krylov methods as smoothers allows coarser spaces than with standard smoothers, such as Jacobi and GaussSeidel. Block diagonal preconditioning for the 2 × 2 block diagonal matrix of the coupled system is also considered. Both multigrid and block diagonal preconditioned iterations fail to converge for frequencies when the scatterer is at resonance. It is shown how to transform the system into an equivalent one to avoid the resonance and to recover the convergence of the iterations.

Solvers for large-displacement fluid–structure interaction problems: segregated versus monolithic approaches

We compare the relative performance of monolithic and segregated (partitioned) solvers for largedisplacement fluid–structure interaction (FSI) problems within the framework of oomphlib, the object-oriented multi-physics finite-element library, available as open-source software at http://www.oomph-lib.org. Monolithic solvers are widely acknowledged to be more robust than their segregated counter...

Distributed Computational Method for Coupled Fluid Structure Thermal Interaction Applications*

The problem of effcient modeling and computation of the nonlinear interaction of fluid with a solid undergoing nonlinear deformation has remained a challenging problem in computational science and engineering. Direct numerical simulation of the non-linear equations, governing even the most simplified fluid-structure interaction model depends on the convergence of iterative solvers which in turn...

Domain Decomposition Solvers for the Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems with Anisotropic Elasticity Models Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org) DOMAIN DECOMPOSITION SOLVERS FOR THE FLUID-STRUCTURE INTERACTION PROBLEMS WITH ANISOTROPIC ELASTICITY MODELS

In this work, a two-layer coupled fluid-structure-structure interaction model is considered, which incorporates an anisotropic structure model into the fluid-structure interaction problems. We propose two domain decomposition solvers for such a class of coupled problems: a Robin-Robin preconditioned GMRES solver combined with an inner Dirichlet-Neumann iterative solver, and a Robin-Robin precon...

An Iterative Substructuring Method for Coupled Fluid-Solid Acoustic Problems

A fast parallel iterative method is proposed for the solution of linear equations arizing from Finite Element discretization of the time harmonic coupled fluid-solid systems in fluid pressure and solid displacement formulation. The fluid and the solid domains are decomposed into nonoverlapping subdomains. Continuity of the solution is enforced by Lagrange multipliers. The system is augmented by...
