Subjective Quality Metric for 3D Video Services
نویسندگان
چکیده
Three-dimensional (3D) video service is expected to be introduced as a next-generation television service. Stereoscopic video is composed of two 2D video signals for the left and right views, and these 2D video signals are encoded. Video quality between the left and right views is not always consistent because, for example, each view is encoded at a different bit rate. As a result, the video quality difference between the left and right views degrades the quality of stereoscopic video. However, these characteristics have not been thoroughly studied or modeled. Therefore, it is necessary to better understand how the video quality difference affects stereoscopic video quality and to model the video quality characteristics. To do that, we conducted subjective quality assessments to derive subjective video quality characteristics. The characteristics showed that 3D video quality was affected by the difference in video quality between the left and right views, and that when the difference was small, 3D video quality correlated with the highest 2D video quality of the two views. We modeled these characteristics as a subjective quality metric using a training data set. Finally, we verified the performance of our proposed model by applying it to unknown data sets. key words: QoE, quality, 3D, 2D, subjective quality metric, objective quality metric

متن کامل3D Video Quality Assessment
A key factor in designing 3D systems is to understand how different visual cues and distortions affect the perceptual quality of 3D video. The ultimate way to assess video quality is through subjective tests. However, subjective evaluation is time consuming, expensive, and in most cases not even possible. An alternative solution is objective quality metrics, which attempt to model the Human Vis...
متن کاملEfficient estimation of disparity statistics and their use as a predictor for perceived 3D video scene quality
Excessive depth perception in 3D video is one of the major factors that causes discomfort to the viewer and that can decrease the viewer’s quality perception of 3D video. With the idea of real-time quality control of 3D videos, we proposed an edge-based sparse disparity estimation algorithm with a novel similarity metric. The comparative assessment with other four state-of-the-art similarity me...
متن کاملUser-Oriented QoE Metrics and Subjective Assessment for Video Streaming Services on 3G Mobile Internet
To provide customer-satisfied video streaming services over 3G, network services providers turn to measure the video quality in term of quality of experience (QoE) rather than quality of service (QOS). In formal QoE definitions for video streaming services over 3G, QoE is either regarded as the average user opinion from the subjective point of view or combination of some technical parameters fr...

For members of the Deaf Community in the United States, current communication tools include TTY/TTD services, video relay services, and text-based communication. With the growth of cellular technology, mobile sign language conversations are becoming a possibility. Proper coding techniques must be employed to compress American Sign Language (ASL) video for low-rate transmission while maintaining...
