Erratum: “Customisation of Paillier Homomorphic Encryption for Efficient Binary Biometric Feature Vector Matching” does NOT enable Privacy-Preserving Matching
نویسنده
چکیده
A privacy-preserving biometric matching technique for binary vectors more efficient than the Goldwasser-Micali approach has been proposed in “Customisation of Paillier Homomorphic Encryption for Efficient Binary Biometric Feature Vector Matching [PPRU14]” based on exploiting Paillier’s capability of encrypting messages larger than one bit at a time. We demonstrate that the suggested solution does not allow privacy preserving matching and show how at least the efficient encryption and XOR-computation part can be used in privacy preserving manner.

Homomorphic encryption-based secure SIFT for privacy-preserving feature extraction
Privacy has received much attention but is still largely ignored in the multimedia community. Consider a cloud computing scenario, where the server is resource-abundant and is capable of finishing the designated tasks, it is envisioned that secure media retrieval and search with privacy-preserving will be seriously treated. In view of the fact that scaleinvariant feature transform (SIFT) has be...
متن کاملSecure License Plate Matching using Homomorphic Encryption
License plate matching plays an important role in applications like law enforcement and road pricing where the plate is first recognized and then compared to a database of authorized vehicle plates. If an entity with a license plate wants to find a match in the license plates database which is in the possession of another entity; matching in the encrypted domain ensures that the privacy of data...
متن کاملPrivacy-Preserving Biometric Authentication and Matching via Lattice-Based Encryption
The continuous dependence on electronic media has radically changed our interactions, many of which are now performed online. In many occasions users need to authenticate to remote machines, but the hostile environment of the Internet may severely expose users and service providers. To counter these shortcomings, strong authentication is pushed forward. As a means to authenticate individuals, b...
متن کاملHomomorphic Encryption for Speaker Recognition: Protection of Biometric Templates and Vendor Model Parameters
Data privacy is crucial when dealing with biometric data. Accounting for the latest European data privacy regulation and payment service directive, biometric template protection is essential for any commercial application. Ensuring unlinkability across biometric service operators, irreversibility of leaked encrypted templates, and renewability of e.g., voice models following the i-vector paradi...
متن کاملMinutiae Matching with Privacy Protection Based on the Combination of Garbled Circuit and Homomorphic Encryption
Biometrics plays an important role in authentication applications since they are strongly linked to holders. With an increasing growth of e-commerce and e-government, one can expect that biometric-based authentication systems are possibly deployed over the open networks in the near future. However, due to its openness, the Internet poses a great challenge to the security and privacy of biometri...
متن کاملPrivacy Preserving PageRank Algorithm By Using Secure Multi-Party Computation
In this work, we study the problem of privacy preserving computation on PageRank algorithm. The idea is to enforce the secure multi party computation of the algorithm iteratively using homomorphic encryption based on Paillier scheme. In the proposed PageRank computation, a user encrypt its own graph data using asymmetric encryption method, sends the data set into different parties in a privacy-...
