چکیده

Abstract: Development of a reliable high-performance helicopter-based unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) requires an accurate and practical model of the vehicle dynamics. This report describes the process and results of the dynamic modeling of a model-scale unmanned helicopter (Yamaha R-50 with 10 ft rotor diameter) using system identification. A complete dynamic model was derived for both hover and cruise flight conditions. In addition to standard helicopter flight characteristics, the model explicitly accounts for the stabilizer bar, which has a strong influence on the flight dynamics and is widely used in model-scale helicopters. The accuracy of the developed model is verified by the comparison between predicted and actual responses from the model and the flight experiments (in both frequency and time domains), and between key identified parameters and their theoretical values. Scaling of the main characteristics of the R-50 modelscale helicopter with respect to those of a UH-1H full-size helicopter was performed to determine how the size influences the flight dynamics of helicopters. Intelligent Auto pilot Design for a Nonlinear Model of an Autonomous Helicopter by Adaptive Emotional Approach

There is a growing interest in the modeling and control of model helicopters using nonlinear dynamic models and nonlinear control. Application of a new intelligent control approach called Brain Emotional Learning Based Intelligent Controller (BELBIC) to design autopilot for an autonomous helicopter is addressed in this paper. This controller is applied to a nonlinear model of a helicopter. This...

First Principle Approach to Modeling of Small Scale Helicopter

The establishment of global helicopter linear model is very precious and useful for the design of the linear control laws, since it is never afforded in the published literatures. In the first principle approach, the mathematical model was developed using basic helicopter theory accounting for particular characteristic of the miniature helicopter. No formal system identification procedures are ...

Mathematical Modeling and Experimental Identification of a Model Helicopter

This paper presents a new mathematical model for a model-scale helicopter. Working from first principles and basic aerodynamics, the equations of motion for full six degree-of-freedom motion are derived. The control inputs considered are the four pilot commands from the radio transmitter: roll, pitch, yaw, and thrust. The model helicopter has a fast time-domain response due to its small size, a...

Tail Motion Model Identification for Control Design of an Unmanned Helicopter

This paper explains the methodology developed to design the yaw control system (heading control system) of the α-SAC UAV. The problem of modeling and controlling the tail motion of this UAV along a desired trajectory is considered. First, the response data of the system are collected during special flight test and a linear time invariant model is extracted by identification techniques. Then, th...
