چکیده

This paper presents the development of a complete mobile fog chamber system, which encompasses the aspects of electronic instrumentation, video recording, fog generation system, high-voltage source, data acquisition system and monitoring instrument. The chamber has all the basic features to conduct type-tests on insulator of ceramic and nonceramic type in an environment of artificially polluted condition. The design and construction of this chamber was simple, effective and efficient. The experience and insight gained in the present work is expected to benefit others. IVAT (Institute of High Voltage and Current) can be considered as resource centre of the subject.

Risk Assessment of Failure of Outdoor High Voltage Polluted Insulators under Combined Stresses Near Shoreline

The aim of this paper is to investigate the various effects of climate conditions on outdoor insulators in coastal areas as a result of saline contamination under acidic and normal cold fog, determining significant electrical and physico-chemical changes on the insulator surface and considering the effect of discharge current, electric field distribution and surface roughness. To replicate simi...

Natural Contamination and Surface Flashover on Silicone Rubber Surface under Haze–Fog Environment

Anti-pollution flashover of insulator is important for power systems. In recent years, haze-fog weather occurs frequently, which makes discharge occurs easily on the insulator surface and accelerates insulation aging of insulator. In order to study the influence of haze-fog on the surface discharge of room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, an artificial haze-fog lab was established. Based...

Room Temperature Cured Hydrophobic Nano-silica Coatings for Outdoor Insulators Installed on Power Lines without Shutting Down the Current

The goal of the present study is to prepare a room temperature cured hydrophobic and self-cleaning nano-coating for power line insulators. As a result, the installed insulators operating in power lines can be coated without being removed from the circuit and without the need to cut off power. For this purpose, hydrophobic silica nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel method using TEOS and HM...
