Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay And Immunochromatography In The Evaluation Of Anti- Rubella Antibodies

چکیده
A new commercially available rapid screening immunochromatographic test (ICT) for Detection of anti-rubella IgG & IgM antibodies was compared with ELISA. Materials and methods: 161 serum samples were tested by immunochromatography card test (Rubella IgG/IgM, SD –Bioline) and were compared with a standard IgG & IgM ELISA (Ani Biotech Oy, Orgenium Laboratories, Vantaa, Finland). Results: ELISA and ICT showed a sensitivity and specificity of 63.4% and specificity of 77% and 36.6% and 22.52% respectively in detection of anti-rubella IgG antibodies .All samples were negative for IgM by both methods. Statistical analysis done using Chisquare test showed a significant difference in sensitivity and specificity between the two tests (p< 0.05). Conclusion: ELISA was superior in achieving a comparatively high sensitivity and specificity. The rapid test required little technical expertise, lesser time and could be done without elaborate equipment unlike the ELISA. If the low sensitivity and specificity of ICT could be corrected in the kit by using better high inbuilt sensitivity & specificity controls for antirubella IgG, then it could replace IgG ELISA in screening for rubella antibodies in peripheral laboratories.

Designing an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of anti-penicillin antibodies levels in various species of animals in Khuzestan province, Iran
The penicillin allergy is being increasingly recognized as a significant public health problem. Immunological responses to penicillin and other beta-lactam antibiotics are classified as immediate and non-immediate responses. This research aimed to develop an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of the reactive antibody value against penicillin in various species of animals...

We developed an immunochromatography-based assay for detecting antibodies against recombinant α-galactosidase A proteins in serum. The evaluation of 29 serum samples from Fabry patients, who had received enzyme replacement therapy with agalsidase alpha and/or agalsidase beta, was performed by means of this assay method, and the results clearly revealed that the patients exhibited the same level...
متن کاملProduction and Evaluation of Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human p53 Antibody Using Bacterially Expressed Glutathione S-transferase-p53 fusion protein
p53 is a key tumor suppressor gene that is targeted for inactivation during human tumorigenesis. In this study, we produced and characterized polyclonal antihuman p53 antibody. The cDNA encoding the completehuman p53 protein was cloned into pGEX-4T-1 and expressed in Escherichia coli as a fusion protein with Schistosoma japonicum glutathione S-transferase (GST). The rabbits were immunized...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Indirect Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay to Detect Antibodies against Serotype A2013 of Foot and Mouth Disease Virus in Cattle
Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a contagious animal disease that causes irreparable damage to the economy of countries, including Iran in which this disease is a native one. Among the ways to combat FMD are vaccination and slaughter. Due to the specific situation of Iran, it is not possible to kill infected animals. Therefore, vaccination is the most important way to fight this disease. S...

An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for progesterone measurement in serum or plasma samples using penicillinase as label enzyme is reported. A C3 and C11 derivatives of progesterone were prepared and conjugated to bovin serum albumin (BSA). Polyclonal antibody against these two immunogens were prepared in New Zealand white rabbits. Purified Ig fractions of antibodies were immobilized o...
