Zeno Paradox for Bohmian Trajectories: The Unfolding of the Metatron

چکیده
We study an analogue of the quantum Zeno paradox for the Bohm trajectory of a sharply located particle. We show that a continuously observed Bohm trajectory is the classical trajectory. Our results are then compared and contrasted with Mott’s original treatment of an α-particle track produced by a decaying nucleus in a cloud chamber using standard quantum mechanics.

Bohmian trajectories and Klein’s paradox
We compute the Bohmian trajectories of the incoming scattering plane waves for Klein’s potential step in explicit form. For finite norm incoming scattering solutions we derive their asymptotic space-time localization and we compute some Bohmian trajectories numerically. The paradox, which appears in the traditional treatments of the problem based on the outgoing scattering asymptotics, is absent.

Although charged leptons, contrary to neutrinos, cannot oscillate, exploring whether a coherent superposition of charged lepton states can change to others during the propagation is an important problem in the neutrino oscillation theory. In this paper, we consider electrons and muons coming from the pions and W decays and study their propagation in relativistic Bohmian quantum mechanics. We f...
متن کاملMathematics of the Quantum Zeno Effect
We present an overview of the mathematics underlying the quantum Zeno effect. Classical, functional analytic results are put into perspective and compared with more recent ones. This yields some new insights into mathematical preconditions entailing the Zeno paradox, in particular a simplified proof of Misra’s and Sudarshan’s theorem. We emphasise the complexanalytic structures associated to th...
متن کاملExperimental nonlocal and surreal Bohmian trajectories.
Weak measurement allows one to empirically determine a set of average trajectories for an ensemble of quantum particles. However, when two particles are entangled, the trajectories of the first particle can depend nonlocally on the position of the second particle. Moreover, the theory describing these trajectories, called Bohmian mechanics, predicts trajectories that were at first deemed "surre...
متن کاملBohmian versus semiclassical description of interference phenomena
The origin of quantum interference characteristic of bound nonlinear systems is investigated within the Bohmian formulation of time-dependent quantum mechanics. By contrast to time-dependent semiclassical theory, whereby interference is a consequence of phase mismatch between distinct classical trajectories, the Bohmian, fully quantum mechanical expression for expectation values has a quasiclas...
