Rieger's anomaly: a 42-year follow-up.

چکیده
Rieger (1935) described two patients with striking anomalies of iris and angle. Each patient had glaucoma associated with hypoplasia of the anterior leaf of the iris, corectopia, and pseudopolycoria. There were iris adhesions both to the posterior surface of the cornea and to posterior embryotoxon, together with mesodermal tissue in the angle (Rieger, 1935). Later a number of systemic abnormalities were added, including oligoor hypodentia, with abnormal enamel formation and maxillary hypoplasia (Rieger, 1941). Rieger called the condition dysgenesis mesodermalis cornae et iridis, to which his name was linked. This report presents the findings for the first patient in Rieger's report who presented for reexamination 42 years later.

Case Report A female infant (V.6, see Fig. 5) was brought to the hospital at the age of 2 months because her mother had noticed that both eyes had been "white" since birth. Pregnancy had been uneventful; no viral infection or contact with rubella during the first trimester had occurred. Birth had been normal and the child was thriving. At no time had there been photophobia or lacrimation. Exami...
متن کاملClinical Implications of Congenital Absence of Circumflex Coronary Artery
Introduction: Coronary artery anomalies are rare clinical entities reported in 0.6% to 5.6% of diagnostic coronary angiographies. Anomalous origins of coronary arteries from distal segments are rarely reported. Presented herein is a coronary anomaly in which the circumflex artery (CX) originated as a continuation of the posterolateral branch of the right coronary artery (RCA) w...
متن کاملEffect of Ebstein's anomaly on short- and long-term outcome of surgically treated patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
BACKGROUND Ebstein's anomaly is the most commonly occurring congenital abnormality associated with the Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome. However, the effects of Ebstein's anomaly on the risks and benefits of surgical ablation of accessory pathways in patients with WPW syndrome are unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS This study compared the long-term outcome of 38 WPW patients with Ebstein's anom...
