چکیده

The juxta-articular and intra-articular fracture of distal radius is a common fracture around wrist joint. The treatment by external fixation using the principle of ligamento-taxis by which the longitudinal distraction force is converted to a compressive force to achieve good congruity of the wrist joint. Hence, the present study was taken up to find out the efficacy of the procedure in 116 cases of which 100 cases the external fixture is applied. The results from radiological and clinical evaluation is compared with other studies.

Time Dependent Relaxation of Soft Tissue Elements about the Wrist Followingexternal Fixator Application

Introduction Ligamentotaxis is the application of axial tension to reduce and hold distal radius fractures through the extrinsic ligaments of the wrist. Longitudinal, external traction applied with a wrist external fixation device may also utilize the principle of the ligamentotaxis. Kaempffe et. al. has shown that as duration of distraction across the wrist joint increases, functional outcome ...

Comparison of the efficacy of surgical and non-surgical treatments in intra-articular calcaneal fracture

Calcaneal fracture accounts for 2% of all fractures and is the most common tarsal fracture. Regarding this, the present study was conducted to determine and compare the surgical and non-surgical treatments in adult patients with calcaneal fractures in terms of outcomes, patients’ satisfaction level, and complications. This clinical trial was conducted on 63 patients with intraarticular fracture...

Arthroscopic Treatment of Distal Radius Fractures

Distal radius fracture (DRF) is one of the most common traumatic events for the hand surgeon to treat. Numerous surgical procedures have been described for this fracture (Ruch et al., 2004); however, the ideal method of surgical management is still controversial. The latest development of a volar locking plate fixation markedly changed the treatment of DRF (Chen & Jupiter, 2007; Chung et al., 2...
