Roentgenographic aspects of complete and incomplete pulmonary infarction.

چکیده
With the advent of effective medical and surgical therapy for pulmonary and systemic thromboembolic disease, it has become essential for the radiologist to diagnose this disease in the lung as rapidly and accurately as possible. The appearance of pulmonary emboll and thrombi on the x-ray film is varied, and in this paper an attempt will be made to review the roentgenographlc appearance in 25 cases (see Table I) in which there were positive findings, and to correlate these with other cases reported in the. literature.

CRITiCAL REVIEW Bacterial Pneumonia or Pulmonary lnfarction?*
T he “textbook” pictures of bacterial pneumonia and pulmonary infarction differ sufficiently to permit accurate diagnosis. Unfortunately, these “textbook” pictures often are absent, particularly in patients with pulmonary infarction. Differentiation in such cases can be a real challenge, because both maladies may give rise to dyspnea, pleuritic pain, tachypnea, tachycardia, fever, cyanosis, hyp...
متن کاملPulmonary artery agenesis.
Pulmonary artery agenesis is one of several diagnostic possibilities which may present with similar chest roentgenographic features, including unilateral pulmonary hypoperfusion and nonvisualization of a pulmonary artery. We have applied ventilation and perfusion scintiphotography as an aid in differentiating agenesis from the other conditions with which it may be confused. Four patients presen...
متن کاملBone marrow infarction in sickle cell anemia: correlation with hematologic profiles.
Bone marrow infarction was investigated by 99mTc-sulfur colloid imaging in 42 patients with sickle cell anemia (SS) over a period of 2 yr. Marrow defects were demonstrated in 28 patients (66.6%), and in 15 (aged 19--52 yr), they were matched by roentgenographic evidence of medullary bone infarction. Repeated images showed no change in the size or site of these defects. Among 13 patients (aged 6...
متن کاملDisturbance of pulmonary gas exchange in patients with right ventricular infarction.
To evaluate the difference in pulmonary gas exchange in patients with and without right ventricular infarction, 147 consecutive patients with their first inferior wall Q-wave acute myocardial infarction were studied. Thirty-nine patients (group 1) had electrocardiographic evidence of right ventricular infarction and it was absent in 108 patients (group 2). A significantly wider alveolar arteria...
متن کاملVariations in Lung Fissures and Lobes: a Case Report
The Knowledge of variations in the lung can help surgeons to control bleeding during pulmonary lobectomy or might be used to reduce post-operative complications. Due to the importance of the knowledge of variations in lungs for clinicians, especially surgeons and radiologists, we report a case with lung lobe and fissure. During the autopsy of a 27-year-old man at the Legal Medicine Organizatio...
