چکیده
This paper shows the experimental details of the stabilization scheme that allows full control of the repetition rate and the carrier-envelope offset frequency of a 10 GHz frequency comb based on a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser. Octave-spanning spectra are produced in nonlinear microstructured optical fiber, in spite of the reduced peak power associated with the 10 GHz repetition rate. Improved stability of the broadened spectrum is obtained by temperature-stabilization of the nonlinear optical fiber. The carrier-envelope offset frequency and the repetition rate are simultaneously frequency stabilized, and their shortand long-term stabilities are characterized. We also measure the transfer of amplitude noise of the pump source to phase noise on the offset frequency and verify an increased sensitivity of the offset frequency to pump power modulation compared to systems with lower repetition rate. Finally, we discuss merits of this 10 GHz system for the generation of low-phase-noise microwaves.

متن کاملA low-phase-noise 18 GHz Kerr frequency microcomb phase-locked over 65 THz
Laser frequency combs are coherent light sources that simultaneously provide pristine frequency spacings for precision metrology and the fundamental basis for ultrafast and attosecond sciences. Recently, nonlinear parametric conversion in high-Q microresonators has been suggested as an alternative platform for optical frequency combs, though almost all in 100 GHz frequencies or more. Here we re...
متن کاملA frequency-stabilized Yb:KYW femtosecond laser frequency comb and its application to low-phase-noise microwave generation
We present an optically stabilized Yb:KYW fslaser frequency comb. We use an f–2f nonlinear interferometer to measure the carrier envelope offset frequency (f0) and the heterodyne beatnote between the comb and a stable CW laser at 1068 nm to detect fluctuations in the comb repetition rate (frep). Both of these degrees of freedom of the comb are then controlled using phase-locked loops. As a demo...
متن کاملOctave-spanning Ti:sapphire laser with a repetition rate >1 ghz for optical frequency measurements and comparisons.
We demonstrate a self-referenced, octave-spanning, mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser with a scalable repetition rate (550 MHz - 1.35 GHz). We use the frequency comb output of the laser, without additional broadening in optical fiber, for simultaneous measurements against atomic optical standards at 534, 578, 563, and 657 nm and to stabilize the laser offset frequency.
متن کاملSelf-stabilization of an optical frequency comb using a short-path-length interferometer.
We stabilized the repetition rate of an optical frequency comb using a self-referenced phase-locked loop. The phase-locked loop generated its error signal with a fiber-optic delay-line interferometer that had a path-length difference of 8 m. We used the stabilized repetition rate to generate a 10 GHz signal with a single-sideband phase noise that was limited by environmental noise to -120 dBc/...
