Scaling properties of the cosmic background plasma and radiation
نویسنده
چکیده
Scaling properties of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation are studied using satellite (COBE-DMR maps), balloonborne and ground-based (combined QMASK map) data. Quantitative consistency is found between the multiscaling properties of the COBE-DMR and QMASK CMB maps. Surprisingly, it is found that the observed CMB temperature multiscaling resembles quantitatively the multiscaling properties of fluid turbulence, that indicates primordial plasma turbulence as an origin of the CMB temperature space anisotropy. On Hubble’s Law of Redshift, Olbers’ Paradox and the Cosmic Background Radiation
We utilize the principle of conservation of energy in a model which explains the cosmological redshift, Olbers’ paradox and the cosmic background radiation. The model is based on a hypothesis of absorption and emission of light by galactic and intergalactic matter, and a mean temperature of matter in the Universe compatible with the background radiation. We also discuss the early works of Regen...
متن کاملMultiscaling of cosmic microwave background radiation
The multiscaling features of structure functions of cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation have been studied using the new data available with the resolution of the order of a degree (combined QMAP and Saskatoon CMB radiation maps). It is shown that the scaling exponents of the CMB structure functions in the angular scale interval 0.9–4◦ are nearly identical to those of universal velocity ...
متن کاملBackground radiation, people and the environment
All living organisms are exposed to ionizing radiation comprising cosmic rays coming from outer space, terrestrial nuclides occurring in the earth’s crust, building materials, air, water and foods and in the human body itself. The exposures are constant and uniform for all individuals everywhere including the dose from ingestion of 40K in food. Cosmic rays are, more intense at higher alt...
متن کاملFriction Domination with Superconducting Strings
We investigate the evolution of a superconducting string network with arbitrary, constant string current in the friction dominated regime. In the absence of an external magnetic field the network always reaches a scaling solution. However, for string current stronger than a critical value, it is different than the usual, horizon–scaling of the non-superconducting string case. In this case the f...
متن کاملInvestigating the Early Universe with the Cosmic Microwave Background Anisotropy
Several experiments (including BOOMERanG, MAXIMA, DASI, VSA, CBI) have recently detected very low contrast structures in the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), the otherwise isotropic radiation coming from the early Universe. These structures have a contrast of the order of 25 ppm and a dominant angular size of one degree. In the current cosmological model, these structures result from acoustic...
