چکیده

We extend our previous theory of the gauging of classical quadratically nonlinear algebras without a central charge but with a coset structure, to the quantum level. Inserting the minimal anomalies into the classical transformation rules of the currents introduces further quantum corrections to the classical transformation rules of the gauge fields and currents which additively renormalize the structure constants. The corresponding Ward identities are the c → ∞ limit of the full quantum Ward identities, and reveal that the c → ∞ limit of the quantum gauge algebra closes on fields and currents. Two examples are given. Gauging Conformal Algebras with Relations between the Generators

We investigate the gauging of conformal algebras with relations between the generators. We treat the W 5/2 –algebra as a specific example. We show that the gauge-algebra is in general reducible with an infinite number of stages. We show how to construct the BV-extended action, and hence the classical BRST charge. An important conclusion is that this can always be done in terms of the generators...

The graded Jacobi algebras and (co)homology

Jacobi algebroids (i.e. a ‘Jacobi versions’ of Lie algebroids) are studied in the context of graded Jacobi brackets on graded commutative algebras. This unifies varios concepts of graded Lie structures in geometry and physics. A method of describing such structures by classical Lie algebroids via certain gauging (in the spirit of E.Witten’s gauging of exterior derivative) is developed. One cons...

Hidden Isometry in a Chiral Gauged WZW Model

It is shown that the asymmetric chiral gauging of the WZW models give rise to consistent string backgrounds. The target space structure of the [SL(2,R)/SO(1, 1)]L ⊗ [SL(2,R)/U(1)]R model is analyzed and the presence of a hidden isometry in this background is demonstrated. A nonlinear coordinate transformation is obtained which transforms the asymmetric model to the symmetric one, analyzed recen...

1 99 2 CTP TAMU – 30 / 92 April 1992 A Review of W Strings

We review some of the recent developments in the construction of W-string theories. These are generalisations of ordinary strings in which the two-dimensional " worldsheet " theory, instead of being a gauging of the Virasoro algebra, is a gauging of a higher-spin extension of the Virasoro algebra—a W algebra. Despite the complexity of the (non-linear) W algebras, it turns out that the spectrum ...

Gauging and Symplectic Blowing Up in Nonlinear Sigma Models: I. Point Singularities

In this paper a two dimensional non-linear sigma model with a general symplectic manifold with isometry as target space is used to study symplectic blowing up of a point singularity on the zero level set of the moment map associated with a quasifree Hamiltonian action. We discuss in general the relation between symplectic reduction and gauging of the symplectic isometries of the sigma model act...
