چکیده

We investigated CD4 1 and CD8 1 T cell turnover in both healthy and HIV-1–infected adults by measuring the nuclear antigen Ki-67 specific for cell proliferation. The mean growth fraction, corresponding to the expression of Ki-67, was 1.1% for CD4 1 T cells and 1.0% in CD8 1 T cells in healthy adults, and 6.5 and 4.3% in HIV-1–infected individuals, respectively. Analysis of CD45RA 1 and CD45RO 1 T cell subsets revealed a selective expansion of the CD8 1

Turnover of CD4+ and CD8+ T Lymphocytes in HIV-1 Infection as Measured by Ki-67 Antigen

We investigated CD4+ and CD8+ T cell turnover in both healthy and HIV-1-infected adults by measuring the nuclear antigen Ki-67 specific for cell proliferation. The mean growth fraction, corresponding to the expression of Ki-67, was 1.1% for CD4(+) T cells and 1.0% in CD8(+) T cells in healthy adults, and 6.5 and 4.3% in HIV-1-infected individuals, respectively. Analysis of CD45RA+ and CD45RO+ T...

T-cell division in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 infection is mainly due to immune activation: a longitudinal analysis in patients before and during highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).

In human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 infection, highly increased T-cell turnover was proposed to cause exhaustion of lymphocyte production and consequently development of AIDS. Here, we investigated cell proliferation, as measured by expression of the Ki-67 nuclear antigen, in peripheral blood CD4(+) and CD8(+) lymphocyte subpopulations before and during highly active antiretroviral therapy ...

T Lymphocytes in AIDS Patients With Tuberculosis

CD 4 + and CD 8 + T lymphocyte counts, naive and memory/effector CD 4 + T subpopulations, and the expression of CD 38 on CD 8 + T lymphocytes were evaluated in four groups: AIDS patients with tuberculosis (HIV/TB, n=14), HIV-1 infected patients (HIV, n=10), HIV-1 negative patients with tuberculosis (TB, n=20) and healthy controls (CTL, n=17). TB and HIV had fewer CD 4 + T cells than CTL, with t...

Assessment of VEGF, CD-31 and Ki-67 Immunohistochemical Markers in Oral Pyogenic Granuloma: A Comparison with Hemangioma and Inflammatory Gingivitis

Objective(s) The aim of this study was to evaluate the expressions of two angiogenic immune-markers (CD-31 and VEGF), and one proliferative immune-marker (Ki-67) in oral pyogenic granulomas (PG), hemangiomas (Hem) and inflammatory gingivitis (IG). Materials and Methods Sixty cases of PG, Hem and IG (twenty cases each) were examined. Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining was performed based on r...

CD 8 + T Lymphocytes in the Lung of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome Patients Harbor Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type

Human immunodeficiency virus-l (HIV-1) infection of CD8' lymphocytes has been described in several in vitro culture systems, but whether CD8' cells are a target and also serve as a reservoir for infection in vivo as yet is unknown. We addressed this issue in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS)-related lower respiratory tract chronic inflammation, which is characterized by a ...
