A bargaining procedure leading to the serial rule in games with veto players

چکیده
This paper studies an allocation procedure for coalitional games with veto players. The procedure is similar to the one presented by Arin and Feltkamp (J Math Econ 43:855—870, 2007), which is based on Dagan et al. (Games Econ Behav 18:55—72, 1997). A distinguished player makes a proposal that the remaining players must accept or reject, and conflict is solved bilaterally between the rejector and the proposer. We allow the proposer to make sequential proposals over several periods. If responders are myopic maximizers (i.e. consider each period in isolation), the only equilibrium outcome is the serial rule of Arin and Feltkamp (Eur J Oper Res 216:208—213, 2012) regardless of the order of moves. If all players are fully rational, the serial rule ∗Dpto. Ftos. A. Económico I, University of the Basque Country, L. Agirre 83, 48015 Bilbao, Spain. Veto games: Spatial committees under unanimity rule
There exists a large literature on two-person bargaining games and distribution games (or divide-the-dollar games) under simple majority rule, where in equilibrium a minimal winning coalition takes full advantage over everyone else. Here we extend the study to an n-person veto game where players take turns proposing policies in an n-dimensional policy space and everybody has a veto over changes...
متن کاملDynamic bargaining and stability with veto players
This note examines the structure of stationary bargaining equilibria in the finite framework of Anesi (2010). The main result establishes a tight connection between the set of equilibrium absorbing points and the von Neumann-Morgestern solutions: assuming that players are patient, that the voting rule is oligarchical, and that there is at least one veto player with positive recognition probabil...
متن کاملA Dynamic Level-k Model in Sequential Games
Backward induction is a widely accepted principle for predicting behavior in sequential games. In the classic example of the so-called “centipede game”, however, players frequently violate this principle. An alternative is a “dynamic level-k” model, where players choose a rule from a rule hierarchy. The rule hierarchy is iteratively defined such that the level-k rule is a best-response to the l...

متن کاملTransfer of Bargaining Power Sources in Oil Trade Games
Bargaining Power is one of the important issues in oil trade negotiations. In this paper two effective factors in bargaining power i.e. patient time to deal and outside options of each player have been considered. The necessary relations for exchange of sources in negotiation have been derived.
