چکیده

The rheology of linear and branched metallocene polyethylenes (m-PEs) was investigated. The linear metallocenes were prepared by gas-phase polymerization, while the branched PEs were commercial resins. Molecular parameters such as Mw, branch type, and molecular weight distribution have influenced the viscoelastic behavior of both linear and branched PEs, whereas branch content (BC) had little influence on viscoelastic properties. Plots of log G versus log G revealed the effect of comonomer type on the viscoelastic behavior of m-PEs. Flow activation energy (E) was found to be sensitive to both Mw and BC. Also, E for ethylene-octene copolymers was observed to be always higher than the butene counterparts, which have been caused by the increase in molar volume of the repeating unit. For the effect of BC on E, different trends were observed for octene and butene m-LLDPEs. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 102: 1717–1728, 2006

Active site nature of magnesium dichloride-supported titanocene catalysts in olefin polymerization

Heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta and homogeneous metallocene catalysts exhibit greatly different active sitenature in olefin polymerization. In our previous study, it was reported that MgCl2-supported titanocenecatalysts can generate both Ziegler-Natta-type and metallocene-type active sites according to the type of activators. The dual active site nature of the supported titanocene catalysts was furt...

Influence of Branch Content, Comonomer Type, and Crosshead Speed on the Mechanical Properties of Metallocene Linear Low-Density Polyethylenes

The effects of branch content (BC) and comonomer type on the mechanical properties of metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (m-LLDPEs) were studied by means of a stress–strain experiment at room temperature. A total of 16 samples with different BCs and comonomer types were used. In addition, the effect of crosshead speed on the mechanical properties of m-LLDPEs with different BCs was exam...

Photooxidative and thermal degradation of polyethylenes: interrelationship by chemiluminescence, thermal gravimetric analysis and FTIR data

The thermal and photooxidative behaviour of polyethylenes of different manufacturing histories (linear low, metallocene and high density) have been investigated by FTIR spectroscopy and the data related to the chemiluminescence (CL) and thermal analysis of the polymers. The CL intensity and activation energies for thermal decomposition were found to be dependent on the rates of oxidation of the...

Non-isothermal Crystallization Kinetics of Linear Metallocene Polyethylenes

The effect of Mw on the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of metallocene linear polyethylene (m-PE) was studied using modulated differential scanning calorimetry. Six linear m-PEs of molecular weights in the range 122-934 kg/mol were prepared by gas phase polymerization. The cooling rate was varied in the range 2–20C/min and it has significantly affected the crystallization behavior. The ...

The influence of branching efficiency on the rheology and morphology of melt state long chain branched polypropylene/polybutene-1 blends

In this study, the compatibility of the blends of polypropylene (PP) and polybutene-1(PB-1) homopolymer before and after long chain branching process were studied. The blends were prepared and long-chain branched directly via reactive extrusion process in presence of free radical initiator and trimethylolpropane tri methacrylate (TMPTMA) poly functional monomer. The optimum percentage of TMPTMA...
