Management strategies for Heterodera goettingiana in a vegetable cropping system in Italy

چکیده
Hele rodera goeuingiana damages leguminous crops in Europe and the Mediterranean Basin. Il is managed by nematicides and crop rotation. The tolerance level for most hosts is less than one egg/g soil, but is higher for vetch (2 eggs/g soil). Conventional economic thresholds varied with crop value and nematicide cost. For DD nematicide at current priees, threshold levels were 8 and 2.5 eggs/g soil for peas grown by family farms and commercial farms, respectively. The optimal application rate of DD nematicide increased with initial population level; it was greater at any population level for commercial farms than for family farms. Optimal crop rotation strategies varied with crop value and initial nematode population level. Generally, a host crop can be profitably grown one year in three; at low initial population levels, IWO host crops can be grown in three years.

Evaluation of Legumes Common to the Pacific Northwest as Hosts for the Pea Cyst Nematode, Heterodera goettingiana.
Seventeen leguminous species common to the Pacific Northwest were evaluated as potential hosts of the pea cyst nematode, Heterodera goettingiana, in both greenhouse and field experiments. In all experiments, juveniles of H. goettingiana penetrated roots of these 17 species with the exception of greenhouse-grown chickpea. Nematodes molted and developed into swollen third-stage or fourth-stage ju...

Phylogenetic analysis of new ribosomal DNA (rDNA) data for Heterodera mediterranea, H. hordecalis, H. carotae, and H. fici from Italy and H. ciceri from Syria, along with published data for other species, showed high bootstrap support for the following relationships: (((((H. carotae H. cruciferae) H. goettingiana) (((H. trifolii H. ciceri) H. mediterranea) ((H. avenae H. latipons) H. fici))) (C...
متن کاملCropping systems, tillage and fertilization strategies for durum wheat performance and soil properties
Many sustainable agronomical practices can be adopted to contain environmental risks of crop production and, at the same time, sustain yield and quality. In this framework, the aim of this research was to study the effects of continuous cropping (CC) and crop rotation, tillage and fertilization strategies on durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) production. The responses of soil properties we...

متن کاملIdentification of Cyst Nematodes of Agronomic and Regulatory Concern with PCR-RFLP of ITS1.
The first internally transcribed spacer region (ITS1) from cyst nematode species (Heteroderidae) was compared by nucleotide sequencing and PCR-RFLP. European, Asian, and North American isolates of five heterodefid species were examined to assess intraspecific variation. PCR-RFLP patterns of amplified ITS1 DNA from pea cyst nematode, Heterodera goettingiana, from Northern Ireland were identical ...
