چکیده

We present a novel numerical method to the time-harmonic inverse medium scattering problem of recovering the refractive index from near-field scattered data. The approach consists of two stages, one pruning step of detecting the scatterer support, and one resolution enhancing step with mixed regularization. The first step is strictly direct and of sampling type, and faithfully detects the scatterer support. The second step is an innovative application of nonsmooth mixed regularization, and it accurately resolves the scatterer sizes as well as intensities. The model is efficiently solved by a semi-smooth Newton-type method. Numerical results for twoand three-dimensional examples indicate that the approach is accurate, computationally efficient, and robust with respect to data noise.

Inverse Boundary Design Problem of Combined Radiation-convection Heat Transfer in Laminar Recess Flow

In the present work, an inverse analysis of combined radiation and laminar forced convection heat transfer in a two-dimensional channel with variable cross sections is performed. The conjugate gradient method is used to find the temperature distribution over the heater surface to satisfy the prescribed temperature and heat flux distributions over the design surface. The fluid is considered to b...

Inverse scattering problem for the Impulsive Schrodinger equation with a polynomial spectral dependence in the potential

In the present work, under some di¤erentiability conditions on the potential functions , we …rst reduce the inverse scattering problem (ISP) for the polynomial pencil of the Scroedinger equation to the corresponding ISP for the generalized matrix Scrödinger equation . Then ISP will be solved in analogy of the Marchenko method. We aim to establish an e¤ective algorithm for uniquely reconstructin...

Numerical solution of an inverse medium scattering problem with a stochastic source

This paper is concerned with the inverse medium scattering problem with a stochastic source, the reconstruction of the refractive index of an inhomogeneous medium from the boundary measurements of the scattered field. As an inverse problem, there are two major difficulties in addition to being highly nonlinear: the ill-posedness and the presence of many local minima. To overcome the difficultie...

Inverse Scattering in Near-field Optics

A regularized continuation method is developed for a two-dimensional inverse medium scattering problem in near-field optics, which reconstructs the scatterer of an inhomogeneous medium deposited on a homogeneous substrate from data accessible through photon scanning tunneling microscopy (PSTM) experiments. In addition to the ill-posedness of inverse scattering problems, two difficulties arise b...

Time-domain Inverse Scattering of a Two- Dimensional Metallic Cylinder in Slab Medium Using Asynchronous Particle Swarm Optimization

This paper presents asynchronous particle swarm optimization (APSO) applied to the time-domain inverse scattering problems of two-dimensional metallic cylinder buried in slab medium. For this study the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) is employed for the analysis of the forward scattering part, while for the APSO is applied for the reconstruction of the two-dimensional metallic cylinder bur...
