Spatial statistics for production ecology

چکیده
At the moment we realize that the world will face major changes in land use in the coming decades. Agricultural production will need to meet the needs of the world population which is expected to double to 12 billion, and to meet the increasing demand as a result of continued economic growth and consumer demands. Agriculture needs to meet this rising demand on less land, with less resources such as water, while satisfying ever-tighter constraints with respect towards the quality of its products and the impact of production techniques on humans and environment. This will increase demands on the natural resources of soil, water and air which are being depleted and degraded in many parts of the world, threatening the continuity of agro-ecosystems. These issues require a thorough scientific analysis of ecosystems and the development of relevant options for agricultural production and conservation activities. Production ecology addresses sustainable agricultural production systems that are in harmony with the natural environment at different scales. Production ecology aims at understanding agroand natural ecosystems, while addressing socio-economic and ecological objectives in the society at various

Investigation of changes of spatial autocorrelation patterns of chlorophyll-a in Choghakhor International wetland using hot spots index (Gi *) and remote sensing
Water resources such as wetlands, in addition to their economic and social importance, are ecologically valuable sources of aquaculture production. Due to its effects on aquatic environments, necessity of monitoring and awareness of the spatial and temporal distribution of chlorophyll-a is important for environmental studies. In the new approach to such studies, application of spatial statistic...
متن کاملIntegrating Geographic Information Systems and Ecological Niche Modeling into Disease Ecology: A Case Study of Bacillus anthracis in the United States and Mexico
This chapter provides an overview of geographic information systems, spatial analysis and spatial statistics, and predictive ecological niche modeling as they apply to disease ecology. I provide a conceptual model of the epidemiology and outbreak ecology of anthrax and the landscape ecology of the pathogen to these two components of the anthrax-transmission and spore-survival model. Spatial clu...

Although environmental hazards occur because of natural factors, however, political economy, controlling the sociospatial relations and conditions, also affect centrally the increase or decrease of physical and social vulnerability caused by hazards. In this regard, present paper has put the spotlight on “explaining the role of spatial distribution of social stratification in vulnerabilit...
متن کاملInferences on pathogenic fungus population structures from microsatellite data: new insights from spatial genetics approaches.
Landscape genetics, which combines population genetics, landscape ecology and spatial statistics, has emerged recently as a new discipline that can be used to assess how landscape features or environmental variables can influence gene flow and spatial genetic variation. We applied this approach to the invasive plant pathogenic fungus Mycosphaerella fijiensis, which causes black leaf streak dise...

Both statistical ecology and environmental statistics have numerous challenges and opportunities in the waiting for the twenty-first century, calling for increasing numbers of nontraditional statistical approaches. Both theoretical and applied ecology are using advancing data analytical and interpretational software and hardware to satisfy public policy and discovery research, variously incorpo...
