چکیده

In this study, two experiments were conducted to determine the curves of equal intensity perception for sinusoidal vertical whole-body vibrations (WBV) of seated subjects over the frequency range from 10Hz to 250Hz. Vibrations were presented to subjects using a at hard seat. In total, 10 participants were asked to match the intensity of di erent vibrations, using a method of adjustment. The obtained contours were compared with the threshold of vibration and to vibrations cross-modally matched to tones from isophones. The shapes of the equal intensity contours in the present study show reasonable agreement with the contours from other studies despite the use of di erent methodologies and experimental questions. The contours show a characteristic similar to the perception threshold. No dependency of vibration magnitude on the shape of the contours was found in the applied dynamic range. However, large inter-individual variations were observed. The results imply that vibration curves that are cross-modally matched to isophones show similar characteristics.

Cross-Modality Matching of Loudness and Perceived Intensity of Whole-Body Vibrations

In this study, two experiments were conducted to determine the point of subjective intensity equality (PSE) of pure tones and sinusoidal whole-body vibrations (WBV) at various frequencies (50Hz, 100Hz and 200Hz). In these experiments, sounds and vertical vibrations were simultaneously presented to subjects using circumaural headphones and a flat hard seat. In total, 10 participants were subject...

Transmitted vibrations to the wrist and arm of a chainsaw operator: The effect of wood cutting process

Introduction: Due to the non-developed mechanization situation, chainsaw is a widely used tool in Iranian forests. This tool can trigger unwelcome disorders (e.g., white finger syndrome) due to the transmitted vibrations from its handle to the body members. Characterizing these vibrations can result in minimizing the intensity of these disorders. This study aims to investigate the effect of dif...

Analysis of the dynamic behavior of the car user in the irregular terrain

Many people experience vibration effects on whole-body throughout their lives frequently. Vibrating energy absorbed is exposed all-body caused with vibration hazard in the vertically on body and biodynamic responses from body in speed 2.37 to 5.14 m/s could captivate with car seat on user body, so the vibration energy transferred to a seated people body. In this paper, the human body is modeled...

A Linear Approach to the Control of Vortex Induced Vibrations of Circular Cylinders with a 2-D Van der Pol Model for Structural Oscillator

In the present paper, a new 2-D Van der Polstructural oscillator model is introduced for the vortex induced vibrations of circular cylinders. The main purpose of this task is to control the recently introduced model by means of modern control definitions in state space. In order to control the system, the whole model is linearized about its equilibrium point by deriving state-space matrices. The...

Extraction of Nonlinear Thermo-Electroelastic Equations for High Frequency Vibrations of Piezoelectric Resonators with Initial Static Biases

In this paper, the general case of an anisotropic thermo-electro elastic body subjected to static biasing fields is considered. The biasing fields may be introduced by heat flux, body forces, external surface tractions, and electric fields. By introducing proper thermodynamic functions and employing variational principle for a thermo-electro elastic body, the nonlinear constitutive relations an...
