X-ray evaluation of failed unicompartmental knee replacement

چکیده
TECHNIQUE The Lyon Schuss view (an anteroposterior weight-bearing radiograph taken with the knee in 20–30 degrees flexion) offers greater accuracy in determining moderate to severe loss of joint space compared with the standard weight-bearing view with the knee fully extended3,4. This is particularly so in lateral compartment arthritis where the pattern of disease is different, ie the posterior part of the compartment is affected. Corresponding appearances of the same joint with a AP valgus stress view (Fig 1a) and Lyon Schuss view (Fig 1b) are seen in the adjoining figure. Use of the Lyon Schuss radiographic views when evaluating causes of failed UKR has not previously been described.

Medial Unicompartmental Osteoarthritis (MUO) of the Knee: Unicompartmental Knee Replacement (UKR) or Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
The aim of this review article is to analyze the clinical effectiveness of total knee replacement (TKR) compared to unicompartmental knee replacement (UKR) in patients with medial unicompartmental osteoarthritis (MUO) in terms of survival rates, revision rates and postoperative complications. The search engine was MedLine. The keywords used were: medial knee osteoarthritis. Three thousand and n...
متن کاملRevision surgery for failed unicompartmental knee replacement: technical aspects and clinical outcome.
The aims of this study were to determine the complexity of surgery required to revise failed unicompartmental knee replacements and to evaluate the outcome following revision. Between 2000 and 2009, 494 cemented Oxford phase 3 medial unicompartmental knee replacements were implanted, with 24 (4.9%) requiring revision (mean age: 63.5 years; 58% male). Mean time to revision was 3.0 years. All cas...
متن کاملLoosening of the femoral component after unicompartmental knee replacement.
We describe a technique for the diagnosis of loosening of the femoral component of the Oxford Unicompartmental Knee Replacement using accurately aligned lateral radiographs in extension and flexion. If gaps are present between the component and cement on one radiograph and not on the other, the component is loose.
متن کاملMedial unicompartmental arthroplasty after failed high tibial osteotomy.
Satisfactory selection criteria are essential for the successful outcome of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UCA). We report the frequency of revision of the Oxford medial unicompartmental arthroplasty in knees previously treated for anteromedial osteoarthritis by high tibial osteotomy (HTO). The combined results from three sources were used to allow statistical analysis of this uncommon sub...
متن کاملEvaluation of implant position and knee alignment after patient-specific unicompartmental knee arthroplasty.
Implant positioning and knee alignment are two primary goals of successful unicompartmental knee arthroplasty. This prospective study outlines the radiographic results following 32 patient-specific unicompartmental medial resurfacing knee arthroplasties. By means of standardized pre- and postoperative radiographs of the knee in strictly AP and lateral view, AP weight bearing long leg images as ...
