چکیده
A range of fungi occur in the mangrove ecosystem although these differ as to their location and some fungi occur more frequently than others. In a study dealing with the frequency of occurrence of manglicolous fungi on Avicennia and Bruguiera from a mangrove habitat of Kerala, South India, 32 manglicolous marine fungi belonging to 23 ascomycetes, 1 basidiomycete and 8 mitosporic fungi were obtained. Aniptodera chesapeakensis, Aniptodera mangrovei, Halosarpheia viscosa, Lignincola longirostris, Savoryella paucispora, Verruculina enalia, Halocyphina villosa, Cirrenalia pygmea and Periconia prolifica were found common on both hosts. Higher number of fungal species was recorded on Avicennia than Bruguiera.

The part of central west coast (Maharashtra and Goa) of India has been classified and quantified for coastal wetlands using LANDSAT data of 1985-86. The classification accuracy of the maps and area estimates achieved was 84% at 90% confidence level and the planimetric accuracy at 1:2.50.000 scale was 0.3 mm. The total coastal wetland areas in Maharashtra and Goa. have been estimated to be 1567 ...
متن کاملEvaluation of multilocus marker efficacy for delineating mangrove species of West Coast India
The plant DNA barcoding is a complex and requires more than one marker(s) as compared to animal barcoding. Mangroves are diverse estuarine ecosystem prevalent in the tropical and subtropical zone, but anthropogenic activity turned them into the vulnerable ecosystem. There is a need to build a molecular reference library of mangrove plant species based on molecular barcode marker along with morp...
متن کاملMaturity, spawning and feeding intensity of cobia Rachycentron canadum (Linnaeus, 1766) in northwest coast of India
An attempt was made to provide some vital aspects of reproductive biology of cobia Rachycentron canadum (Linnaeus, 1766). Samples for a period of two years from an exploratory vessel and from the landing centers of Mumbai were used for the study. The average sex ratio between males and females observed was 1:0.80. Dominance of the number of females above the size of 100 cm was noticed. The size...

A total of 173 actinomycetes colonies were isolated from near shore marine environment and mangrove ecosystem at 8 different locations of Kerala, West Coast of India. Among them, 64 isolates were morphologically distinct on the basis of spore mass colour, reverse side colour, aerial and substrate mycelia formation and production of diffusible pigment. The majority (47%; n=30) of these isolates ...
