چکیده

The influence of timing jitter on quadrature charge sampling for a direct conversion receiver has been evaluated. In contrast to voltage sampling, the charge sampling mixer integrates the signal current instead of tracking the signal voltage. The charge sampling mixer has been applied to RF direct sampling in wireless receivers. The influence of timing jitter on charge sampling has been analysed in some literatures. However, in wireless receivers, quadrature sampling is required in order to demodulate I-phase and Q-phase signals. Different from charge sampling, timing jitter causes crosstalk between these signals. The influence of timing jitter on quadrature sampling is investigated.

Mitigating Timing Noise in ADCs through Digital Post-Processing

The accuracy of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) is greatly affected by the uniformity of the times at which samples of the analog input signal are taken. The error in the sample times, known as jitter, or timing noise, has a non-linear, time-varying and input-dependent effect on the sample values, as opposed to the additive noise usually considered. At present, the error due to jitter is mi...

Generalized Bandpass Sampling Receivers for Software Defined Radio

Based on different sampling theorem, for example classic Shannon’s sampling theo-rem and Papoulis’ generalized sampling theorem, signals are processed by the sam-pling devices without loss of information. As an interface between radio receiverfront-ends and digital signal processing blocks, sampling devices play a dominantrole in digital radio communications.Under the concep...

Sampling Jitter in Audio A/D Converters

This paper provides an overview of the effects of timing jitter in audio sampling analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), i.e. PCM (conventional or Nyquist sampling) ADCs and sigma-delta (Σ∆) ADCs. Jitter in a digital audio is often defined as shortterm fluctuations of the sampling instants of a digital signal from their ideal positions in time. The influence of the jitter increases particularly w...

Open Architecture ATE and 250 Consecutive UIs

Problem Statement. A very different way is needed to perform jitter testing of multi-Gbps physical layer ICs on a highvolume production line [1]. To perform high-volume production testing, several issues must be addressed. First, what measurements are required to characterize jitter in multi-Gbps physical layer ICs? Should the BER performance of the IC be tested or not? Secondly, as shown in Fi...

Sampling Jitter in Charge Sampling Radio

Abstract—This article addresses some implementation challenges in the potentially very energy-efficient chargesampling radios. Alternative ways to implement charge sampler in charge sampling radio are considered, and the impacts and spectral shape characteristics of the sampling jitter induced signal distortion are analytically studied in these cases. The analysis shows that the spectrum of the...
