Oct in Neurologic Disease
نویسنده
چکیده
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) has evolved dramatically since the first reports of this technology in 1991, and has become an integral part of the ophthalmology evaluation. In addition to providing an indispensible service for the retina physician, the ability to quantify the retinal nerve fiber layer has begun to change neuro-ophthalmic practice. In this regard, OCT has the potential to change qualitative, subjective descriptive reporting into reproducible quantitative science.

Progression of transsynaptic retinal degeneration with spectral-domain optical coherence tomography
PURPOSE To illustrate the progression of retrograde transsynaptic retinal degeneration using spectral- domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT). OBSERVATIONS A 60 year-old man with a stroke was followed over a 17-month period using SD-OCT of the macula, ganglion cell layer (GCC), and retinal nerve fiber layer. Transsynaptic retinal degeneration progressed over this time. CONCLUSIONS AND...
متن کاملRetinal Nerve Fiber Layer Imaging with Spectral-domain Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)—A Review of the Cirrus HD-OCT
High-speed, high-resolution imaging of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) with spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) has become an essential tool for evaluation of glaucoma. The Cirrus HD-OCT (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc. Dublin, CA) is a spectral-domain OCT that provides visualization of the distribution pattern and measurement of RNFL abnormalities in a 6x6mm2 optic disc region. An...
متن کاملOptical Coherence Tomography and Corpus Callosum Index in Cognitive Assessment of Multiple Sclerosis Patients
Background: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a neurodegenerative disease of central nervous system. Different approaches have been developed to study MS progression and cognitive dysfunction as the major symptom of the disease. The current study compared Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Corpus Callosum Index (CCI) for the early evaluation of cognitive dysfunction in MS patients. Objectives: T...
متن کاملRetinal Ganglion Cell Complex in Alzheimer Disease: Comparing Ganglion Cell Complex and Central Macular Thickness in Alzheimer Disease and Healthy Subjects Using Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography
Introduction: Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia worldwide. The modalities to diagnose AD are generally expensive and limited. Both the central nervous system (CNS) and the retina are derived from the cranial neural crest; therefore, changes in retinal layers may reflect changes in the CNS tissue. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine can show delicate retinal layer...
متن کاملThe Clinical Manifestations, Treatment Efficacy and Adverse Drug Reactions in 62 Iranian Child with Wilson Disease
Introduction: The Wilson disease is an autosomal recessive disease in which the liver, central nervous system, eyes, blood and other parts of the body involved. Timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the disease requires awareness of the clinical presentations of this disease in children. Methods: This case series study included 62 patients with Wilson disease who admitted to children's M...
