چکیده

In the NLC, the energy variation along the multi-bunch beam pulse will be controlled by preloading the structure with a ramped rf profile which is followed by constant amplitude rf. The rf amplitude modulation will be achieved by combining the outputs of pairs of oppositely phase-modulated klystrons through a hybrid. Such agile phase modulation is currently used in the NLCTA[ I]. The duration of the required ramp is nominally the fill time minus the structure length divided by c. This is illustrated in Figure 1, which shows qualitatively the rf pulse shape and (with different shading) how it fills the structure at beam injection, at steady state, and at a point inbetween. The increasing gradient from the injected rf cancels the increasing retarding field due to beam loading build-up.

Beam Loading Compensation for the Nlc Low Frequency Linacs

The NLC low rf linacs are heavily loaded by a beam of about 130 ns in macropulse length (90 bunches) and a current up to 2.75 Amps. Beam loading voltage generates a large energy spread along the bunch train. This energy spread is critical for lattice design and, if not properly compensated, induces emittance growth and in turn lowers the luminosity of the machine. In this paper, we study the AF...

TWO-FREQUENCY BEAM-LOADING COMPENSATION in the DRIVE- BEAM ACCELERATOR of the CLIC TEST FACILITY

The CLIC Test Facility (CTF) is a prototype two-beam accelerator, in which a high-current “drive beam” is used to generate the RF power for the main-beam accelerator. The drive-beam accelerator consists of two S-band structures which accelerate a bunch train with a total charge of 500 nC. The substantial beam loading is compensated by operating the two accelerating structures at 7.81 MHz above ...

Higher Harmonics Beam Loading Compensation for a Broad Band Ma-loaded Rf Cavity

A broad band RF cavity loaded with magnetic alloy cores has been developed for the Japanese Hadron Facility synchrotrons. Its Q-value can be chosen at between 0.5 and 5. To reduce transient beam loading effects, a small Qvalue (< 3) is preferable to shorten the transient period. However, the circulating beam current of up to 7 A will induce a spurious voltage at the accelerating gap, which defo...

The Proposed Nlc Linac Llrf System*

Abstract The proposed Next Linear Collider (NLC) contains linac systems operating at L,S,C, and X band. This paper describes a wideband modular low-level RF (LLRF) system applicable for all NLC pulsed RF systems. High speed digital IF techniques are used for both arbitrary klystron drive modulation and accurate RF vector detection. Measurement of relative beam to RF phase, beam loading compensa...

Nonlinear analysis of radially functionally graded hyperelastic cylindrical shells with axially-varying thickness and non-uniform pressure loads based on perturbation theory

In this study, nonlinear analysis for thick cylindrical pressure vessels with arbitrary variable thickness made of hyperelastic functionally graded material properties in nearly incompressible state and clamped boundary conditions under non-uniform pressure loading is presented. Thickness and pressure of the shell are considered in axial direction by arbitrary nonlinear profiles. The FG materia...
