چکیده

A relaxation system for the incompressible and compressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations is considered. A numerical scheme working uniformly in the above limits is constructed using higher-order nonoscillatory upwind discretiaations and higher-order implicit-explicit t ime discretization. Numerical results are presented for several test cases. @ 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Keywords--Relaxation methods, Asymptotic analysis, Fluid dynamic equations, Higher-order upwind schemes, Projection scheme.

Uniformly Accurate Diffusive Relaxation Schemes for Multiscale Transport Equations

Many transport equations, such as the neutron transport, radiative transfer, and transport equations for waves in random media, have a diiusive scaling that leads to the diiusion equations. In many physical applications, the scaling parameter (mean free path) may diier in several orders of magnitude from the rareeed regimes to the hydrodynamic (diiusive) regimes within one problem, and it is de...

Investigation of Fluid-structure Interaction by Explicit Central Finite Difference Methods

Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) occurs when the dynamic water hammer forces; cause vibrations in the pipe wall. FSI in pipe systems due to Poisson and junction coupling has been the center of attention in recent years. It causes fluctuations in pressure heads and vibrations in the pipe wall. The governing equations of this phenomenon include a system of first order hyperbolic partial differen...

On a Class of Uniformly Accurate IMEX Runge--Kutta Schemes and Applications to Hyperbolic Systems with Relaxation

In this paper we consider hyperbolic systems with relaxation in which the relaxation time ε may vary from values of order one to very small values. When ε is very small, the relaxation term becomes very strong and highly stiff, and underresolved numerical schemes may produce spurious results. In such cases it is important to have schemes that work uniformly with respect to ε. IMEX R-K schemes h...

Final Report of NASA Langley Grant NCC1-01035 Relaxation and Preconditioning for High Order Discontinuous Galerkin Methods with Applications to Aeroacoustics and High Speed Flows

methods are two classes of high order, high resolution methods suitable for convection dominated simulations with possible discontinuous or sharp gradient solutions. In [18], we first review these two classes of methods, pointing out their similarities and differences in algorithm formulation, theoretical properties, implementation issues, applicability, and relative advantages. We then present...
