A Case of Enlarged Thymus Gland

چکیده
an abnormally large thymus gland in itself cannot be considered to be indicative of status thymicolymphaticus when no obvious cause of death is found at post mortem. On the other hand, Moncrieff (1938) has remarked that an enlarged thymus is not a common chance finding .in .the chests of infants who have been z-rayed for other conditions, of heart or lungs. Also a study of a number of healthy infants attending a welfare centre has failed to reveal thymic enlargement similar to that seen in cases described by him, in which the symptoms were those of stridor, syncope and dyspncea. It appears clear however that a thymus gland which can be classed as abnormally big from an

Bilateral Hyperplasia of Bartholin’s Gland: A Case Report
A 37-year-old woman underwent surgery to remove bilateral vulvar masses. The masses were firm, non-tender, and immobile. Pathologic finding was a well-delineated creamy grayish mass with a homogenous grayish solid surface and mild edema, chronic inflammatory infiltration, and focal dilation of the ducts with squamous metaplasia. The diagnosis was hyperplastic and hypertrophied Bartholin’s gland...

Radiological evidence of a mass in the anterior mediastinum may provide a difficult problem in diagnosis. Disorders of the thymus, particularly thymomas, are frequently the cause of such mass lesions. Although modest thymic enlargement occurs in many patients with Graves's disease,' rarely is the enlargement great enough to lead to a clinical diagnostic dilemma.2 We report here two patients wit...
متن کاملThymic Hyperplasia Associated with Graves’ Disease in a 10-year-old Boy
Thymic hyperplasia associated with Graves' disease is rarely reported in children, although it is not uncommon in adults. Occasionally, an enlarged thymus presents as an anterior mediastinal mass on a radiographic examination. Such patients often undergo invasive procedures such as a thymus biopsy or thymectomy because of suspected malignancy. However, an enlarged thymus with Graves' disease is...

Objective. Thymus alterations have been related to several autoimmune disorders. In particular, previous studies identified a significant frequency of gland abnormalities by chest high-resolution CT (HRCT) in SSc patients. In this study we aimed to investigate the prevalence of radiological thymic alterations and their correlation with clinical and serological features in a large SSc series. Me...

The thymus gland is an endocrine gland that plays an important role in the body’s immunity. Thymus gland cancer happens very rarely and one treatment way is radiation therapy. Due to the location of this gland and its proximity to the sensitive organs, radiation therapy of thymus gland cancer will bring the risk of side effects. In this paper, a Mird phantom is simulated and a modulator and ran...
