Placing bulk-fill composites in the creation of esthetic posterior restorations
نویسنده
چکیده
Tooth 16 showed a fractured mesial marginal ridge that was undermined by caries (Figure 1). Following the placement of a rubber dam, the tooth was prepared and a medium-sized Class-II cavity resulted (Figure 2). In order to achieve optimum adhesion to enamel, it is essential to prepare the enamel margins in such a way that the enamel prisms are obliquely cut. This entails bevelling of the vertical proximal margins and the gingival shoulder.1-5 After a sectional matrix band had been placed (Figure. 3), a dentin/enamel bonding agent was applied. My preferred technique is a combined one,6 consisting of the selective etching of enamel for 30 seconds and the subsequent application of a two-bottle self-etch adhesive (AdheSE®) (Figures 4 and 5). One increment of shade IVA Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill was sufficient to fill the entire cavity (Figure 6). Figure 7 shows the completed restoration after polishing it with Soflex discs and OptraPol® Next Generation.

Comparing the Microleakage of Bulk-Fill (flowable, packable) Composite Restorations and Conventional Light-cured Composites
Introduction and aim: Bulk Fill composites have increased polymerization depth and their contraction stress, and cuspal deflection are reduced in comparison with conventional composites. Therefore, it is claimed that their microleakage is reduced. The aim of this study was to compare microleakage of (flowable and packable) Bulk Fill and conventional resin composites. Materials and Methods: Thi...
متن کاملComparative Evaluation of microleakage of Bulk-fill and Posterior Composite Resins Using the Incremental Technique and a Liner in Cl II Restorations
Background and Aim: In recent years there has been a surge in the use of tooth-colored restorations. However, the polymerization shrinkage of these materials can form gaps, resulting in microleakage. This study aimed to compare microleakage by using different materials and techniques. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, Cl II cavities were prepared on the mesial surfaces of 60 s...
متن کاملMicroleakage of Bulk-Fill Composites at Two Different Time Points
Objectives: Microleakage is the main concern in composite restorations. This study aimed to compare the microleakage of two bulk-fill and one conventional composite at two different time points. Methods: Class II cavities were prepared in 60 premolar teeth and divided into six groups of 20. Groups 1 and 4 were incrementally filled with Grandio composite. Groups 2 and 5 were filled with X-tra...
متن کاملThe effect of short fiber composite base on microleakage and load-bearing capacity of posterior restorations
Objectives: To determine the marginal microleakage of Class II restorations made with different composite base materials and the static load-bearing capacity of direct composite onlay restorations. Methods: Class II cavities were prepared in 40 extracted molars. They were divided into five groups (n = 8/group) depending on composite base material used (everX Posterior, SDR, Tetric EvoFlow). Aft...
متن کاملMinimally invasive management of dental caries: contemporary teaching of posterior resin-based composite placement in U.S. and Canadian dental schools.
BACKGROUND Resin-based composites are an increasingly popular material for restoring posterior teeth, permitting minimally invasive cavity preparations and esthetic restorations. The authors investigated current teaching of the placement of posterior resin-based composites in U.S. and Canadian dental schools. METHODS In late 2009 and early 2010, the authors, with the assistance of the Consort...
