Quark-induced Correlations between Instantons Drive the Chiral Phase Transition

چکیده

A simple model for the instanton ensemble at finite temperature T is proposed, including “random” and strongly correlated “molecular” component. T-dependence of fermionic zero modes naturally leads to chiral symmetry restoration, without instanton suppression. Moreover, at T = (1− 2)Tc the non-perturbative effects due to “molecules” are so strong, that they even dominate the global thermodynamics. † On leave from Fachbereich Physik, Humboldt Universität Berlin, Germany ‡ On leave from: Physics Department, State University of New York, Stony Brook, NY 11794

Color Superconductivity and Chiral Symmetry Restoration at Nonzero Baryon Density and Temperature

We explore the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter as a function of temperature and baryon number density, using a class of models for two-flavor QCD in which the interaction between quarks is modelled by that induced by instantons. Our treatment allows us to investigate the possible simultaneous formation of condensates in the conventional quark–anti-quark channel (breaking chiral sym...

A Mean Field Approach To The Instanton - Induced Effects Close To The QCD Phase Transition

In the instanton models the chiral phase transition is driven by a transition from random instanton-antiinstanton liquid and correlated instanton-antiinstanton molecules. So far this phenomenon was studied by numerical simulations, while we develop alternative semi-analytic approach. For two massless quark flavors, both instantons and " molecules " generate specific 4-fermion effective interact...

Behavior of the topological susceptibility at finite T and μ and signs of restoration of chiral symmetries

We investigate the possible restoration of chiral and axial symmetries across the phase transition at finite temperature and chemical potential, by analyzing the behavior of several physics quantities, such as the quark condensates and the topological susceptibility, the respective derivatives in order to chemical potential, and the masses of meson chiral partners. We discuss whether only chira...

Instantons and the Chiral Phase Transition at non-zero Baryon Density

We study an interacting ensemble of instantons at finite baryon chemical potential. We emphasize the importance of fermionic zero modes and calculate the fermion induced interaction between instantons at non-zero chemical potential. We show that unquenched simulations of the instanton ensemble are feasible in two regimes, for sufficiently small and for very large chemical potential. At very lar...

QCD at Finite Baryon Density: Chiral Symmetry Restoration and Color Superconductivity

We use a variational procedure to study finite density QCD in an approximation in which the interaction between quarks is modelled by that induced by instantons. We find that uniform states with conventional chiral symmetry breaking have negative pressure with respect to empty space at all but the lowest densities, and are therefore unstable. This is a precisely defined phenomenon which motivat...
