It is, howvver, difficult to explain on this basis how a patienmay resp6nd again once resistance has occurred (Figs. 1-4). For these reasons we believe that asparaginase should be used in combination with other drugs in the treatment of acute leukaemia. Although when used alone it does not produce complete remission in acute myeloid leukaemia, it still may have a part to play when used in combination, for any treatment which can reduce the number of malignant cells without harming normal haemopoietic cells may be a useful agent when combined with other drugs. The value of Lasparaginase in the treatment of malignant disease in combination with other forms of chemotherapy or radiotherapy has still to be elucidated.
