Non-Visual User Interfaces

چکیده
This thesis investigates the necessity for, feasibility and construction of non-visual user interfaces to improve computer access for the visually impaired. The senses of hearing and touch are both appropriate for non-visual human-computer interaction, and this report presents and analyses different ways to use these senses to access a modern graphical user interface. A set of guidelines for the optimum way in which this can be done is followed by a specification of a complete non-visual user interface that meets these requirements. ii Acknowledgements

Selecting and Extracting Effective Features of SSVEP-based Brain-Computer Interface
User interfaces are always one of the most important applied and study fields of information technology. The development and expansion of cognitive science studies and functionalization of its tools such as BCI1, as well as popularization of methods such as SSVEP2 to stimulate brain waves, have led to using these techniques every day, especially in appropriate solutions for physically and menta...
متن کاملA New Trust Model for B2C E-Commerce Based on 3D User Interfaces
Lack of trust is one of the key bottle necks in e-commerce development. Nowadays many advanced technologies are trying to address the trust issues in e-commerce. One among them suggests using suitable user interfaces. This paper investigates the functionality and capabilities of 3D graphical user interfaces in regard to trust building in the customers of next generation of B2C e-commerce websit...

Existing systems which enable accessibility to graphical user interfaces (GUIs) by blind people follow an ‘adaptation strategy’; each system adopts its own hard-coded policy for reproducing visual dialogues in a non-visual form, without knowledge about the application domain or the particular dialogue characteristics. It is argued that non-visual user interfaces should be more than automaticall...
متن کاملThe Use of Non-Speech Sounds in Non-Visual Interfaces to the MS-Windows GUI for Blind Computer Users
Two studies investigated the use of non-speech sounds (auditory icons and earcons) in non-visual interfaces to MS-Windows for blind computer users. The first study presented sounds in isolation and blind and sighted participants rated them for their recognisability, and appropriateness of the mapping between the sound and the interface object/event. As a result, the sounds were revised and inco...
متن کاملLayered software architecture for designing environmental sounds in non-visual interfaces
This paper presents a partially implemented layered software architecture for describing and designing environmental sounds (everyday sounds) in non visual interfaces based on a new sound model (audio framework). This architecture facilitates non-speech audio presentation of objects and interaction mechanisms to non visual interfaces. Physical layer, system sound software layer, sound analyser/...
