Speech Recognition Technology for Dysarthric Speech
نویسنده
چکیده
The initial results of investigations into the use of current commercial automatic speech recognition (ASR) software by people with speech disability (dysarthria) is presented, together with a brief summary of the history of the development of ASR and its applications for the disabled. Results confirm the viability of dysarthric use, identify areas of further investigation for improved recognition performance and for development of a clinical tool for speech measurement. Universal Access : Experiments in Automatic Recognition of Dysarthric Speech by Harsh
This thesis describes the results of first experiments in small and medium vocabulary dysarthric speech recognition, using the database being recorded by the Statistical Speech Technology Group under the Universal Access initiative. Speaker-dependent, wordand phone-level speech recognizers utilizing the hidden Markov model architecture were developed and tested; the models were trained exclusiv...
متن کاملSTARDUST – Speech Training And Recognition for Dysarthric Users of Assistive Technology
Automatic speech recognition (ASR) can provide a rapid means of controlling EAT. Off-the-shelf ASR systems function poorly for users with severe dysarthria because of the increased variability of their articulations compared to ‘normal’ speech. A two-pronged approach has been applied to this problem: 1. To develop a computerised training package which will assist dysarthric speakers to improve ...

Automatic speech recognition is being used in a variety of assistive contexts, including home computer systems, mobile telephones, and various public and private telephony services. Despite their growing presence, commercial speech recognition technologies are still not easily employed by individuals who have speech or communication disorders. While speech disorders in older adults are common, ...
متن کاملAn Automatic Dysarthric Speech Recognition Approach using Deep Neural Networks
Transcribing dysarthric speech into text is still a challenging problem for the state-of-the-art techniques or commercially available speech recognition systems. Improving the accuracy of dysarthric speech recognition, this paper adopts Deep Belief Neural Networks (DBNs) to model the distribution of dysarthric speech signal. A continuous dysarthric speech recognition system is produced, in whic...
متن کاملRecognition of Dysarthric Speech Using Voice Parameters for Speaker Adaptation and Multi-Taper Spectral Estimation
Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder resulting from impairment in muscles responsible for speech production, often characterized by slurred or slow speech resulting in low intelligibility. With speech based applications such as voice biometrics and personal assistants gaining popularity, automatic recognition of dysarthric speech becomes imperative as a step towards including people with dysar...
