Vibrations, Shocks and Noise Tool wear criterion based on cutting tool vibration

چکیده
This work presents a new criterion for the tool wear evaluation from cutting tool vibration. The vibratory signatures produced during a dry turning process were acquired using a three-axis accelerometer mounted on cutting tool. Then, the mean power analysis was estimated to extract an indicator parameter able to describe the wear of the cutting tool along its lifespan. Finally, a criterion based on the sliding window was proposed to detect the beginning of the last stage of the cutting tool wear in real time. This detector was tested under different machining configurations and the results have shown his efficiency.

SIMULATION AND MONITORING OF THE MACHINING PROCESS VIA FUZZY LOGIC AND CUTTING FORCES
On time replacement of a cutting tool with a new one is an important task in Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS). A fuzzy logic-based approach was used in the present study to predict and simulate the tool wear progress in turning operation. Cutting parameters and cutting forces were considered as the input and the wear rate was regarded as the output data in the fuzzy logic for construct...
متن کاملTransmitted vibrations to the wrist and arm of a chainsaw operator: The effect of wood cutting process
Introduction: Due to the non-developed mechanization situation, chainsaw is a widely used tool in Iranian forests. This tool can trigger unwelcome disorders (e.g., white finger syndrome) due to the transmitted vibrations from its handle to the body members. Characterizing these vibrations can result in minimizing the intensity of these disorders. This study aims to investigate the effect of dif...
متن کاملAnalysis of Face Milling Operation Using Acousto Optic Emission and 3D Surface Topography of Machined Surfaces for In-Process Tool Condition Monitoring
* Corresponding author.e-mail: [email protected] Abstract In machining as a result of the cutting motion, the surface of workpiece will be influenced by cutting parameters, cutting force and vibrations etc. But the effects of vibrations have been paid less attention. Thus, by monitoring the machined surface topography of the workpiece and extracting the relevant information the cutting proce...
متن کاملAn experimental investigation of chatter effects on tool life
Tool wear is one of the most important considerations in machining operations, as it affects surface quality and integrity, productivity, and cost. The most commonly used model for tool life analysis is the one proposed by F. W. Taylor about a century ago. Although the extended form of this equation includes the effects of important cutting conditions on tool wear, tool life studies are mostly ...
متن کاملNeural Network Monitoring Strategy of Cutting Tool Wear of Horizontal High Speed Milling
The wear of cutting tool degrades the quality of the product in the manufacturing processes. The on line monitoring of the cutting tool wear level is very necessary to prevent the deterioration of the quality of machining. Unfortunately there is not a direct manner to measure the cutting tool wear on line. Consequently we must adopt an indirect method where wear will be estimated from the measu...
