Hygro-thermo-mechanical analysis of spalling in concrete walls at high temperatures as a moving boundary problem

چکیده
A mathematical model allowing coupled hygro-thermo-mechanical analysis of spalling in concrete walls at high temperatures by means of the moving boundary problem is presented. A simplified mechanical approach to account for effects of thermal stresses and pore pressure build-up on spalling is incorporated into the model. The numerical algorithm based on finite element discretization in space and the semi-implicit method for discretization in time is presented. The validity of the developed model is carefully examined by a comparison between experimental tests performed by Kalifa et al. [35] and Mindeguia [42] on concrete prismatic specimens under unidirectional heating of temperature of 600 ◦C and ISO 834 fire curve and the results obtained from the numerical model. ar X iv :1 40 1. 11 52 v2 [ cs .C E ] 7 J an 2 01 4

Numerical Simulation of Concrete Exposed to High Temperature – Damage and Explosive Spalling
In the present paper a fully coupled three-dimensional thermo-hygro-mechanical model for concrete is discussed and used in the numerical studies. The model is formulated in the framework of continuum mechanics based on the principles of irreversible thermodynamics. Distribution of moisture, pore pressure, temperature, stresses and strains are calculated by employing a three-dimensional transien...
متن کاملA Model for Concrete at High Temperatures
Prediction of concrete performance at high temperatures is of great importance, in particular for safety evaluation of concrete structures in fires in tunnels and high buildings or in thermal hazard situations like hypothetical core disruptive nuclear accidents. High temperatures induce strong physical and chemical changes in the micro-structure of concrete that affect its mechanical behaviour....
متن کاملAnalysis of coupled transport phenomena in concrete at elevated temperatures
In this paper, we study a non-linear numerical scheme arising from the implicit time discretization of the Bažant-Thonguthai model for hygro-thermal behavior of concrete at high temperatures. Existence of the time-discrete solution in two dimensions is established using the theory of pseudomonotone operators in Banach spaces. Next, the spatial discretization is accomplished by the conforming fi...

Stress Redistribution Analysis of Piezomagnetic Rotating Thick-Walled Cylinder with Temperature-and Moisture-Dependent Material Properties
In this article, the problem of time-dependent stress redistribution of a piezomagnetic rotating thick-walled cylinder under an axisymmetric hygro-thermo-magneto-electro-mechanical loading is analyzed analytically for the condition of plane strain. Using the constitutive equations, a differential equation is found in which there are creep strains. Primarily, eliminating creep strains, an analyt...
