چکیده

This paper introduces a Subjective Logic based argumentation framework primarily targeted at evidential reasoning. The framework explicitly caters for argument schemes, accrual of arguments, and burden of proof; these concepts appear in many types of argument, and are particularly useful in dialogues revolving around evidential reasoning. The concept of a sensor is also useful in this domain, and is incorporated in our framework. We show how the framework copes with a number of problems that existing frameworks have difficulty dealing with, and how it can be situated within a simple dialogue game. Finally, we examine how an agent can reason so as to decide what argument to advance to maximise its utility at the end of a dialogue.

The Effectiveness of the Automatic System of Fuzzy Logic-Based Technical Patterns Recognition: Evidence from Tehran Stock Exchange

The present research proposes an automatic system based on moving average (MA) and fuzzy logic to recognize technical analysis patterns including head and shoulder patterns, triangle patterns and broadening patterns in the Tehran Stock Exchange. The automatic system was used on 38 indicators of Tehran Stock Exchange within the period 2014-2017 in order to evaluate the effectiveness of technical...

How I would like to foresee the future of theoretic fuzzy logic

Departing from how the speaker became involved, and by what he did work with fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic, an (obviously subjective) look at their future will be discussed. Namely, by arguing on some aspects such research could follow to not only being a theoretic ground for Zadeh’s Computing with Words, but also for going towards a new experimental science dealing with the imprecision and non-ra...

Modal Metaphysics and the Everett Interpretation

Recent work on probability in the Everett interpretation of quantum mechanics yields a decision-theoretic derivation of David Lewis’ Principal Principle, and hence a general metaphysical theory of probability; part 1 is a discussion of this remarkable result. I defend the claim that the ‘subjective uncertainty’ principle is required for the derivation to succeed, arguing that it amounts to a th...

Conditional Reasoning with Subjective Logic

Conditional inference plays a central role in logical and Bayesian reasoning, and is used in a wide range of applications. It basically consists of expressing conditional relationship between parent and child propositions, and then to combine those conditionals with evidence about the parent propositions in order to infer conclusions about the child propositions. While conditional reasoning is ...

Subjective Logic Extensions for the Semantic Web

Subjective logic is a powerful probabilistic logic which is useful to handle data in case of uncertainty. Subjective logic and the Semantic Web can mutually benefit from each other, since subjective logic is useful to handle the inner noisiness of the Semantic Web data, while the Semantic Web offers a mean to obtain evidence useful for performing evidential reasoning based on subjective logic. ...
