Principles of non-local field theories and their application to polymerized membranes

چکیده
In these lecture notes, we give an overview about non-local field-theories and their application to polymerized membranes, i.e. membranes with a fixed internal connectivity. The main technical tool is the multi-local operator product expansion (MOPE), generalizing ideas from local field theories to the multi-local situation. These notes are largely inspired by: Kay Wiese, “Polymerized membranes, a review”, Domb and Lebowitz, eds., Academic Press, London (2000). Lectures held for the Graduiertenkolleg in Heidelberg, September 25-27. Dedicated to Hagen Kleinert at the occasion of his 60th birthday. Published in Fluctuating Paths and Fields, W. Janke, A. Pelster, H.-J. Schmidt and M. Bachmann (Eds.), World Scientific Singapore (2001)

Renormalization Theory for the Self-Avoiding Polymerized Membranes
We prove the renormalizability of the generalized Edwards model for self-avoiding polymerized membranes. This is done by use of a short distance multilocal operator product expansion, which extends the methods of local field theories to a large class of models with non-local singular interactions. This ensures the existence of scaling laws for crumpled self-avoiding membranes, and validates the...

متن کاملEffects of Biodegradable Polymers on the Rat's Damaged Spinal Cord Neural Membranes
The overall goal of this study was to identify the appropriate biomaterials able to facilitate the regeneration in rat's injured adult spinal cord. Acute damage to axons is manifested as a breach in their membranes, ionexchange distortion across the compromised region, local depolarization and even conduction block. It would be of particular importance to interrupt the progress of events h...
متن کاملFinite difference method for sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories
In this article, finite difference method (FDM) is used to solve sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling analysis of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories. The uniform temperature change is used to study thermal effect. The small scale and surface energy effects are added into the governing equations using Eringen’s non-local elasticity...
