Using a local-density-functional formalism in a self-consistent scattering

چکیده
This paper describes a study concerning the interaction of oxygen with clean Ge(O01)2 x 1 surfaces in ultrahigh vacuum at 300 K. Surface conductance measurements, differential ellipsometry in the photon energy range of 1.5-4 eV and Auger electron spectroscopy have been used to monitor this solid-gas reaction. We observed in the joint density of states. as derived from ellipsometry. a peak at about 3.3 eV in addition to the optical transition at 1.8 eV reported earlier by Meyer. From the optical spectrum we show that the clean Ge(001) surface has at least three distinct surface states. Our results are essentially consistent with recent STM measurements and theoretical predictions. Moreover, we show that the distinct feature at 2.6 eV below the Fermi level as found with STM can be attributed to a surface state.

Spin Polarization in GaAs/Al0.24Ga0.76As Heterostructures
The spontaneous spin polarization of a quantum point contact (QPC) formed by the lateral confinement of a highmobility two-dimensional electron gas in a GaAs/AlGaAs split gate heterostructure is investigated. Self consistent calculations of the electronic structure of the QPC are performed using the spin-polarized density functional formalism of Kohn and Sham. Spin polarization occurs at low el...

By using the convolution formalism which consists of Fermi motion and binding effect, we investigate the deep inelastic electron scattering from A=3 mirror in the deep-valence region. The initial valence quark input is taken from the GRVs (Gluck, Reya and Vogt) fitting procedure and the next-to-leading order QCD evolution on FP2 (x,Q2) which gives very good fit to the available data in the (x,Q...

In this paper, the phononic and thermal properties of tungsten disulfide have been studied. The aim of this study was to investigate the phonon and thermal properties such as heat capacity and enthalpy. The calculations are performed within the framework of density functional theory by pseudo-potential methood and by Quantum Espresso computational package and their exchange-correlation function...

In this research, structural and electronic properties of ZnCdn-1Ten clusters (n=1-10) have been studied by formalism of density functional theory and using the projector augmented wave within local density approximation. The structural properties (such as bond length/angle and coordination number), electronic and optical properties (such as binding energy, Kohn-Sham spect...
متن کاملThree-dimensional calculations of the magnetic fields in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder in an applied axial magnetic field
In this study, a set of self-consistent coupled-integral equations for the local magnetic flux and current distributions in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder under an axial magnetic field has been directly derived by using the Biot-Savart law within the framework of the critical-state model. The equations were first solved numerically in the three-dimensional space before obtaining the h...

The hyperfine interactions at the uranium site in the antiferromagnetic USb2 compound were calculated within the density functional theory (DFT) employing the augmented plane wave plus local orbital (APW+lo) method. We investigated the dependence of the nuclear quadruple interactions on the magnetic structure in USb2 compound. The investigation were performed applying the so called “band corr...
