The use of B-type natriuretic peptides in coronary artery disease: utile or futile?
نویسنده
چکیده
-type natriuretic peptides (BNP and N-terminal [NT]roBNP) have been shown to be extremely helpful in the iagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of therapy of patients ith heart failure (HF) (1). These neurohormones are preominately secreted from the left and the right cardiac ventricle n response to cardiac stress. The BNPs can be seen as uantitative markers of HF summarizing the extent of systolic nd diastolic left ventricular dysfunction, valvular dysfunction, nd right ventricular dysfunction (1).

Natriuretic Peptides: Prediction of Cardiovascular Disease in the General Population and High Risk Populations
The natriuretic peptides, especially the B-type peptide (BNP) and its inactive split-product N-terminal proBNP (Nt-proBNP) are increasingly used in screening for heart failure, primarily with reduced systolic function, in patients with symptoms suggestive of heart failure, as well in the stable (General Practitioner) setting as in the acute setting. Supporting this use is a very strong prognost...
متن کاملNatriuretic peptides in unstable coronary artery disease.
Patients with unstable coronary artery disease (CAD), i.e., unstable angina or non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, vary widely in clinical presentation, prognosis and response to treatment. To select appropriate therapy, early risk stratification has become increasingly important. This review focuses on the emerging role of natriuretic peptides in the early assessment of patients with unsta...

متن کاملSerum Levels of Adipocyte Fatty Acid-Binding Protein Are Associated with the Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Chinese Women
BACKGROUND Adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP) has been described as a novel adipokine, playing an important role in the development of metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis. In this study, we investigated the relationship between serum levels of A-FABP and the presence and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) in Chinese subjects. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDING...
متن کاملIncreased B-Type Natriuretic Peptide Concentration Is Associated with Reduced Coronary Vasoreactivity in Patients with Dilated Cardiomyopathy but Not in Healthy Young Subjects
Background/Aims. Natriuretic peptides are associated with the cardiovascular disease risk under a range of different circumstances. However, less is known about whether this association is found also in young healthy subjects. Methods. 9 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and 26 healthy young subjects were studied. The myocardial blood flow measurements were performed basally and during adeno...
