چکیده

We studied phase-coherent phenomena in mesoscopic permalloy Ni81Fe19 samples by exploring lowtemperature transport. Both differential conductance as a function of bias voltage and magnetoconductance of individual wires display conductance fluctuations. Analysis of these fluctuations yields a phase coherence length of 250 nm at 25 mK as well as a 1 / T temperature dependence. To suppress conductance fluctuations by ensemble averaging, we investigated low-temperature transport in wire arrays and extended permalloy films. In these samples we have measured conductance corrections which stem from electron-electron interaction; but attempts to detect signatures of weak localization were without success.

Quantum Interference Control of Ballistic Magneto- resistance in a Magnetic Nanowire Containing Two Atomic- Size Domain Walls

The magnetoresistance of a one-dimensional electron gas in a metallic ferromagnetic nanowire containing two atomic-size domain walls has been investigated in the presence of spin-orbit interaction. The magnetoresistance is calculated in the ballistic regime, within the Landauer-Büttiker formalism. It has been demonstrated that the conductance of a magnetic nanowire with double domain walls...

Quantum Dots Attached to Ferromagnetic Leads: Exchange Field, Spin Precession, and Kondo Effect

Spintronics devices rely on spin-dependent transport behavior evoked by the presence of spin-polarized electrons. Transport through nanostructures, on the other hand, is dominated by strong Coulomb interaction. We study a model system in the intersection of both fields, a quantum dot attached to ferromagnetic leads. The combination of spin-polarization in the leads and strong Coulomb interactio...

Enhanced exchange bias and improved ferromagnetic properties in Permalloy–BiFe0.95Co0.05O3 core–shell nanostructures

Hybrid core-shell nanostructures consisting of permalloy (Ni80Fe20) and multiferroic(BiFeO3, BFO/BiFe0.95Co0.05O3, BFC) materials were synthesized by a two-step method, based on wet chemical impregnation and subsequent electrodeposition within porous alumina membranes. Structural and magnetic characterizations have been done to investigate doping effect on magnetic properties and exchange bias....

Magnetic response of hybrid ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic core-shell nanostructures.

The synthesis of FeTiO3-Ni(Ni80Fe20) core-shell nanostructures by a two-step method (sol-gel and DC electrodeposition) has been demonstrated. XRD analysis confirms the rhombohedral crystal structure of FeTiO3(FTO) with space group R3[combining macron]. Transmission electron microscopy clearly depicts better morphology of nanostructures with shell thicknesses of ∼25 nm. Room temperature magnetic...

Probing the timescale of the exchange interaction in a ferromagnetic alloy.

The underlying physics of all ferromagnetic behavior is the cooperative interaction between individual atomic magnetic moments that results in a macroscopic magnetization. In this work, we use extreme ultraviolet pulses from high-harmonic generation as an element-specific probe of ultrafast, optically driven, demagnetization in a ferromagnetic Fe-Ni alloy (permalloy). We show that for times sho...
