چکیده

Recent studies have shown that transvaginal ultrasound provides a more reliable and objective evaluation of the uterine cervix, demonstrating that the shorter the length of the cervix the higher the risk of preterm delivery. Measuring cervical volume could even be a better reflection of cervical morphology. Three-dimensional (3D) imaging combined with power Doppler, theoretically provides the possibility to assess the volume and quantify the power Doppler signal in the whole target organ, whereas information from 2D US on vascularization and blood flow is restricted to a single subjectively chosen 2D plane. The measurement of cervical indices is reproductible and could be used in clinical practice and research to determine the changes of the cervical morphology and vascularization in pregnancy. Consequently, further studies of 3D ultrasound imaging of the cervix in pregnancy and clinical correlations to obstetrical events are required for better understanding the physiology and functional pathophysiology of the cervix during pregnancy.

Conservative treatment of cervical pregnancy with selective unilateral uterine artery embolization.

BACKGROUND Cervical pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy, and the most effective method of its treatment is still under investigation. We would like to call attention to selective uterine artery embolization as an effective modern treatment method. CASE A patient with suspected cervical pregnancy and 7-week amenorrhea was admitted to the hospital after unsuccessful use of emergency c...

Two- and three-dimensional transvaginal ultrasound with power Doppler angiography and gel infusion sonography for diagnosis of endometrial malignancy.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) transvaginal ultrasonography, power Doppler angiography (PDA) and gel infusion sonography (GIS) at offline analysis for recognition of malignant endometrium compared with real-time evaluation during scanning, and to determine optimal image parameters at 3D analysis. METHODS One hundred and sixt...

Proportion of cervical excision for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia as a predictor of pregnancy outcomes.

OBJECTIVE To assess how the proportion of the cervical volume/length removed during treatment for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) varies and whether this correlates to the pregnancy duration at delivery. METHODS The present prospective observational study included 142 women undergoing CIN treatment at a university hospital during 2009-2013. The pretreatment and post-treatment cervica...

Intraobserver and interobserver variability of ovarian volume, gray-scale and color flow indices obtained using transvaginal three-dimensional power Doppler ultrasonography.

OBJECTIVE To assess intraobserver and interobserver variability in ovarian volume and gray-scale and color flow index measurements using transvaginal, three-dimensional, power Doppler ultrasonography. METHODS Eleven women (22 ovaries) were examined on day 8 of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation therapy, which was part of their in vitro fertilization treatment protocol. The patients were exam...

The Role of 3D Ultrasound in Assessment of Endometrial Receptivity and Follicular Vascularity to Predict the Quality Oocyte

The success of human and embryo implantation depends on maternal and embryonic factors and their interactions. To asses uterine receptivity one must take various factors into account. Current advances in transvaginal 3D ultrasonography have allowed us to examine in detail and visualize pelvic organ structures to analyse their volumes with great accuracy (Alcazar et al., 2006 ),(Raga et al., 199...
