Water Vapor Adsorption on Chemically Treated Activated Carbon Cloths

چکیده
Water vapor adsorption on activated carbon cloth (ACCBO) which has been oxidized to a level of 32% oxygen exhibits a unique isotherm with uniform hysteresis of small magnitude upon desorption. In contrast the adsorption on untreated ACCBO and chemically modified ACCBO (7.8% Cl), ACCBO (16% Cl), and ACCBO (4% N), exhibits sigmoidal isotherms with hysteresis loops of varying magnitudes. The latter ACCs display high capacity for moisture removal at relative humidities >50%. At saturation, all treated cloths exhibit high adsorption capacities for water (0.5-0.67 m u g of fiber) and 100% desorption upon heating to 100 "C. The untreated and treated ACCBO samples exhibited no degradation upon heating to 100 "C. Total water adsorption volumes are lower than the total nitrogen pore volumes for all samples except for the ACC2O (32% 01, which adsorbs similar volumes of both adsorbates.

Removal of Manganese(II) from Aqueous Solution by Chemically Activated Thuja Occidentalis Leaves Carbon (CATLC) as an Adsorbent: Adsorption Equilibrium and Kinetic Studies
In this research paper, chemically activated Thuja Occidentalis leaves carbon (CATLC) is used as an adsorbent for the expulsion of Mn(II) from aqueous solution. CATLC is characterized by FTIR, SEM and EDX. The effect of pH, initial Mn(II) concentration, CATLC dosage and contact time on the adsorption performance of CATLC for Mn(II) ions are examined by batch studies. The results reveal that CAT...
متن کاملIsotherm Equation for Water Vapor Adsorption onto Activated Carbon
A simple isotherm model has been developed for the type-5 equilibrium adsorption systems by considering the effects of both primary and secondary adsorptive sites. The model was applied to interpret experimental data describing water vapor adsorption capacities of four activated carbon adsorbents for relative vapor pressures from 0.0 to 0.95 and temperatures between 288 and 308 K. Good agreemen...

متن کاملUsing Microwave Radiation to Recover Granular Activated Carbon Exposed to Toluene Vapor
This paper describes laboratory scale experiments examining the impact of microwave irradiation on the Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) exposed to toluene, a common organic vapor frequently released into work environment as well as outdoor. A stream containing 300 ppm toluene was supplied and passed through the granular activated carbon. The saturated adsorbent was placed in a quartz glass r...
