چکیده
I. The results of a two-year follow-up of the 36 patients originally reported upon in 1954. 2. The results of treatment in all the patients (94) treated up to March, 1956. These have been followed up for a minimum of six months (September, 1956). 3. Observationson the techniqueof LSD treatment. 4. Description of a technique for treating psychotic patients with a coin-. bination of LSD and chlorpromazine. 5. A discussion of the present position of LSD in relation to psychiatry.

Pharmacokinetics and Concentration-Effect Relationship of Oral LSD in Humans
BACKGROUND The pharmacokinetics of oral lysergic acid diethylamide are unknown despite its common recreational use and renewed interest in its use in psychiatric research and practice. METHODS We characterized the pharmacokinetic profile, pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic relationship, and urine recovery of lysergic acid diethylamide and its main metabolite after administration of a single oral...
متن کاملRole of psilocybin in the treatment of depression.
Psilocybin is a naturally occurring alkaloid, pharmacologically similar to the classic hallucinogen lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). Although primarily used as a recreational drug or an entheogen in particular cultural settings, recent population based studies have shown that it does not lead to serious physical or mental health problems or dependent use. In view of recent work demonstrating p...
متن کاملInterference with testing for lysergic acid diethylamide.
We found a high rate (4.2%) of positive results for lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) by Emit in 1898 urine samples that were submitted primarily from psychiatric patients for drugs-of-abuse (DOA) testing. Specimens that tested positive for LSD by Emit subsequently tested negative for LSD with two RIAs. Furthermore, LSD was not detected in randomly selected Emit-positive urine samples by gas chr...
متن کاملGaddum and LSD: the birth and growth of experimental and clinical neuropharmacology research on 5-HT in the UK.
The vasoconstrictor substance named serotonin was identified as 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) by Maurice Rapport in 1949. In 1951, Rapport gave Gaddum samples of 5-HT substance allowing him to develop a bioassay to both detect and measure the amine. Gaddum and colleagues rapidly identified 5-HT in brain and showed that lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) antagonized its action in peripheral tissues. ...
