چکیده

Soybean (Glycine max (L) Merr.) seed treatments are recognized as useful in reducing losses from seed borne pathogens and seedling damping off agents. The seed treatment with fungicide is essential in the improved technology for increasing crop production. In the present investigation two seed protectant fungicides captan and carbendazim are used. Effect of fungicides on growth of Rhizobium japonicum has been studied. Soybean seeds of two varieties PK-472 and JS-72-44 were treated with the said fungicides. Observations are taken after 45 days. Results reveal that carbendazim is toxic to the nodule bacterium. Therefore, seed treatment with captan should be followed as a routine.

Integration effect of some synthetic fungicides with some biological agent in control of Rhizoctonia solani on cotton seedlings

Rhizoctonia solani is an important soil-borne pathogen which has a broad host range and cause damping-off or rottenness of root and crown of cultivated plants. The combined use of different control methods in IPM programs is an effective strategy against pathogens and is useful especially in resistance management programs. In this study, EC50 and EC25 values of three conventional chemical fungi...

Effect of Nitrate on Nodulation and Nitrogen Fixation of Soybean

1.1 Biological nitrogen fixation and nitrogen nutrition in soybean plants Biological nitrogen fixation is one of the most important processes for ecosystem to access available N for all living organisms. Although N2 consists 78% of atmosphere, but the triple bond between two N atoms is very stable, and only a few group of prokaryotes can fix N2 to ammonia by the enzyme nitrogenase. Annual rate ...

Native strains of Bradyrhizobium japonicum were tested for their effectiveness on nodulation, crop yield and nitrogen fixation in soybean (Glycine max). B. japonicum strains were isolated from soybean root nodules collected from different agro-climatic regions of Far Western Nepal, viz. Dipayal (607 m asl), Dadeldhura (1097 m asl), Silgadhi (1209 m asl) and Bajura (1524 m asl). The strains were...

Compatibility of Phyton with Common Fungicides and Their Role on the Yield of Safed Musli

In order to know the compatibility of Phyton (a Phytotonic) with routine fungicides like Captan and GLSTIN (Carbendazim), for the preliminary management of Fusarium solani, a causal organism of tuber-rot of safed musli, the present study was carried out. Among the fungicides, though GLSTIN stood superior, its effect was found inferior to that of Phyton alone. However, the combination of Phyton ...
