Crowdsourcing in Computer Vision
نویسندگان
چکیده
Computer vision systems require large amounts of manually annotated data to properly learn challenging visual concepts. Crowdsourcing platforms offer an inexpensive method to capture human knowledge and understanding, for a vast number of visual perception tasks. In this survey, we describe the types of annotations computer vision researchers have collected using crowdsourcing, and how they have ensured that this data is of high quality while annotation effort is minimized. We begin by discussing data collection on both classic (e.g., object recognition) and recent (e.g., visual story-telling) vision tasks. We then summarize key design decisions for creating effective data collection interfaces and workflows, and present strategies for intelligently selecting the most important data instances to annotate. Finally, we conclude with some thoughts on the future of crowdsourcing in computer vision. A. Kovashka, O. Russakovsky, L. Fei-Fei and K. Grauman. Crowdsourcing in Computer Vision. متن کاملTask Decomposition and Human Computation in Graphics and Vision
We propose a few research challenges for crowdsourcing in the computer vision and computer graphics domains, and pose broader questions about the scope and capacity of crowdsourcing platforms to solve ill-defined large scale problems. Specifically we consider how crowds can be employed for task decomposition. We envision human computations that are both self-assembling and self-debugging.
متن کاملCrowdsourcing and Its Applications in Computer Vision
Crowdsourcing has emerged in the past decade as a popular model for online distributed problem solving and production. The creation of Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) as a “micro-task” marketplace has facilitated this growth by connecting willing workers with available tasks. Within computer vision, MTurk has proven especially useful in large-scale image label collection, as many computer vision...
متن کاملMixing Crowd and Algorithm Efforts to Segment Objects in Biomedical Images
We examine how to leverage the efforts of crowds and algorithms to find the boundaries of objects in biomedical images (segmentation). We propose a modular framework, SAVE, which generates candidate segmentations and then employs voting to choose among the candidates. This framework supports integration of both computer vision and crowdsourcing modules. We evaluated four implementations of SAVE...
متن کاملGenerating Gold Questions for Difficult Visual Recognition Tasks
Gold questions are a standard mechanism to detect insincere workers on crowdsourcing platforms. They usually rely on the assumption that workers should obtain perfect accuracy on the task. In this work, we are interested in crowdsourcing difficult multi-class visual recognition tasks, for which this assumption is not met, and we propose a novel method for generating gold questions in this context.
