چکیده
Objective Preterm labor is a common health problem with has very serious adverse effects and burden of cost. Early diagnosis of preterm labor may be useful for prevention of its adverse effects. The aim of the present study was to evaluate levels of alkaline phosphatase (ALP), ferritin, and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in amniotic fluid in the second trimester of pregnant women for predicting preterm labor.

Mid-Trimester Amniotic Fluid High Sensitive C-Reactive Protein Level in the Prediction of Preterm Delivery
Background and Objectives: Preterm labor is a serious problem in obstetrics, accounting for 70% of perinatal mortality. High sensitive C - reactive protein (HS-CRP) is a sensitive marker of Inflammation. Our aim in this study was to determine Amniotic fluid hs-CRP concentration and its correlation with pre-Term delivery. Materials and methods: This prospective study was conducted on 90 p...
متن کاملWhat we have learned about the predictors of preterm birth.
The Preterm Prediction Study conducted by the Maternal Fetal Medicine Network between 1993 and 1996 studied a large number of risk factors for preterm birth in more than 3,000 women at 10 centers. The goals of the study were to better understand the strength of one risk factor versus another and to explore interactions among the predictors looking for combinations of factors that were more pred...

Amniotic fluid (AF) is essential for fetal development and maturation during pregnancy. The levels of proteins in AF have been determined in many studies to screen for potential biomarkers of pregnancy-associated abnormalities. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a major AF and plasma protein produced by the yolk sac and the liver during the fetal period. APF serum concentrations are commonly used for s...

متن کاملAmniotic fluid cell morphology in early antenatal prediction of abortion and low birth weight.
The morphology of rapidly adherent (RA) amniotic fluid cells was examined in 201 pregnant women referred for amniocentesis because of two sequential high serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) concentrations. Out of 43 amniotic fluid samples containing increased amounts of AFP, 42 had neural or peritoneal cells predominating among the RA cells, the outcome being an infant with a neural-tube defect or ex...
